Edit 3: I should clarify that there are 3 parts of Aim Assist.
The part I am talking about is Bullet Magnetism. NOT reticule speed.
I personally think that Destiny does NOT have good PvP.
I think that way for two reasons:
1. Map design is awful.
2. Aim Assist.
I find it retarded that I can aim at someones head with a Sniper, miss the shot, and still get the kill.
I also find it incredibly dumb that I can aim in someones general direction with a shotty or Last Word, pull the trigger and they just die.
This game can be balanced, but casual players remove all the skill in gunplay. Bullets literally CURVE to hit your target. You can jump behind cover after taking a few hits and bullets will curve through the cover and hit you.
Imagine a world where Snipers ACTUALLY take a shot to someones head, and not off to the side a little.
Imagine a world where Shotties ACTUALLY take a direct impact of pellets to kill your target.
But I know the answer...
Casuals.
Bungie needs to keep the game playable for bad casual players (I have seen some pretty damn good casuals however). That way they can constantly get some form of kills to keep them entertained. That is also why Supers exist in PvP. So any player has a chance to get some kills.
What do you guys think? Would the removal of AA help the balance of the game? Or would removal of AA break the game?
Speak your mind.
Edit 1: I was INSTANTLY corrected that AA is needed. I am from PC when it comes to hardcore PvP, so I was unaware of this.
However I will copy and paste what I stated before:
But if this is the case, why is the AA so high on all guns? Why not have it at just enough so the controller can function and it doesn't impact gameplay as it does now?
Edit 2:
"AA on a sniper will slow the reticle down as it crosses the target. This helps the most in drag scoping, but there is zero bullet curve.
AA on a primary is different. When you aim your primary the reticle doesn't slow down like snipers, but it does have bullet curve. The higher the AA the more bullet magnetism it will have. A gun such as Mida has a very forgiving miss kill ratio as the AA pulls the bullets towards the target."

I know this everyone. The reason why I saw what I saw is because of Hit Box lag, which originates from bad net code. But the question still remains the same, why is AA so high on other weapons?
Edit 4:
Sadly, the colors of this community are showing up.
First of all, I am not insulting people by calling people a casual. People who use "Casual" as a insult are retarded (Because more then often they are the people with a life and family). I am just saying why is it so catered to casuals. When you select any PvP playlist, it says right next to it, "Competitive Multiplayer". If they want to cater to casuals so much then make a separate playlist for them. Or, make a separate playlist for the hardcore. When did you people ever get the idea I think I am better then you?
Edit 5: Yeahhh... I'm done. Way to many people that don't know how this games AA works.
Bullet Magnetism IS real. It has been tested in Destiny and is a thing. It is one of the 3 parts that is Aim Assist.
To prove this:
https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/4ribxp/massive_breakdown_of_range_target_acquisition_aim/
It may not be on Snipers, but it is still a thing. This combined with lag and latency is why you can be killed behind cover.
Hehe... the first few people that commented here were quite nice a polite.
"Wait! There's a perk called "Bullet Magnetism" wtf!! I've never got that roll......
Your stupidity is astounding.Typical scrub bumping gums before doing any research, but acts like they know everything.
Bungie, you need to hire this person RIGHT NOW!"

Dumbass.
Anyway, thanks to the people that actually discussed the topic.
-
Prime example of people who take this game too seriously.

1 ReplyWhat kind of writing style is this S***? A waterfall of text?
-
1 ReplyWhy are you so set on getting rid of AA? I'm seriously asking.
-
Tldr that massive wall of text but wanted to let you in on a little secret: range and accuracy dictate if your bullet hits your target. Imagine a cone sticking out of the barrel of your gun. The width of the cone is based off of your gun type, archetype, range stat, and perks. Your accuracy (a hidden stat tied into your range stat) dictates how close your cone has to be on a target in order for a bullet to register as a "hit." Your stability stat dictates how much that cone bounces around when firing your gun. For a fun experiment, go grab the Super Good Advice and aim close to, but not on an enemy and fire. Notice the bullets almost always hit the target. This is because the gun has relatively low range but insane accuracy
-
Bullet magnetism is only removed in pc games in which the input devices have incredibly high accuracy and can adjust pixel by pixel. Example play CS:GO on a 4k monitor I can snipe to level that would make destiny's sniping look like your playing with a brick.
-
I won't bother reading this, I'll make it simple. ALL GAMES HAVE AIM ASSIST.

Edited by ITzTricky_x: 7/8/2016 11:55:43 PMMy IQ is somehow lower after reading this. hehe
-
Lmao aim assist curves bullets? I know you said you're from pc but cmon man
-
It's obvious by your last word statement that you really don't know what your talking about...point invalid!!
-
Wait! There's a perk called "Bullet Magnetism" wtf!! I've never got that roll...... Your stupidity is astounding.Typical scrub bumping gums before doing any research, but acts like they know everything. Bungie, you need to hire this person RIGHT NOW!
The part I am talking about is Bullet Magnetism. NOT reticule speed.
Stopped reading at that point.. Show me one game - either on the PC or console where Bullet Magnetism is an actual thing. Then I see
Edit 1: I was INSTANTLY corrected that AA is needed. I am from PC when it comes to hardcore PvP, so I was unaware of this.
Then promptly started laughing my ass off.. If you're a hardcore PvP player -- how did you not know AA (even in a small amount) is needed for consoles due to the lag introduced with controllers. Finally - if you seriously think that PvP in Destiny is truly competitive, then you have definitely selected the wrong game. And yes this coming from someone that considers themselves to be Casual..
-
Because consoles. Release Destiny for PC and you get a good argument for removing aim assist.
-
Cuz controls.

The cringe

Edited by PushedBean764: 7/8/2016 11:01:40 AMBullet Magnetism is a myth. Bungie's servers being potatoes though...
-
Dude aim assist is part of the stats of a gun, (in destiny) people like you just don't like that less skilled people can, to some extent, compete with the better players
-
The only way to remove aim assist is to implement servers that actually work. Then we can get started on the technical stuff.
-
Removing AA will kill the feel of the gun. Bungie's hard work will be wiped of all weapons had 0 AA. All engagements would be within close range.
-
3 RepliesStopped reading when you mentioned Bullet Magnetism. That, as I believe many others already told you, does not exist in this game.
-
I seriously don't understand how people can type all of these words.
-
It's part of the physics that make the game work at all, it has to be there much like relativity in the real world.
-
Because it's a console game lmao. Wasted time on a big wall of text
-
Wall of word vomit
-
That was a good laugh
-
I agree aim assist have high values in this game (like everest high in some weapons *cough* handcannons *cough*) but its necessary, the closest thing you can get to a "realistic" shooting experience at least on xbox was on "the call of chutulhu" that was a survival horror game with an incredibly low aim assist and no hud, most recently on xbox 360 and xbox one with metro 2033 on "true ranger" mode same thing but higher aim assist, but as for destiny...well just ignore the pvp part of the game, it will save you a lot of time of useless grinding
-
1 ReplyYour theory is flawed. A casual player has limited time to play and is less likely to invest into the serious rule of perk selection on a sniper. There's less research and dedication to make casuals a relevant reason for aim assist's existence. It's the superior complex sheeps like yourselves who wants everything centered around your opinion in agreement. I suggest you put the controller down. Go mow the lawn or something. There's this thing made of helium and other gas called a sun. It shines brightly, you should try to enjoy that.
