Grenades
Axion Bolt: Best suited for opening and closing engagements.
Damage-110, does have dmg falloff
Radius- 10 meters
Max targets- 2, 3 with Voidfang Vestments. Note that it is 1 bolt per targe
Scatter: Best suited for finishing kills, one hit killing, and crowd control.
Damage- 120 to 160
Radius- 9 meters
Max targets- N/A, all of them
Vortex: Best suited for zone control, walking off areas.
Damage- 300 to 600 damage. 300 damage at 100/second for 3.5 seconds. Will boost to 6 seconds with Vortex Mastery
Radius-4 meters
Max targets- N/A, all of them
Glide
Focused Control: Best suited for mid-air control. Not recommended for speedy travel.
Focused Burst: Best suited for speedy travel, sacrificing control for speed.
Blink: Best suited for speedy travel. May be difficult to master, but can be slippery to deal with. AKA good blinkers are hard to kill. Not recommended for any activity due to the nerf they received at the start of ttk.
Nova Bomb
Vortex: Best suited for PVE as players would either be killed by initial blast or be smart enough not to go into it. Not recommended for PVP.
Shatter: Best suited for PVP or PVE. Great in both because the 3 projectiles cover a lot of ground with explosions.
Lance: Best suited for PVP. Lance nova bombs can be difficult to dodge as they travel faster. Can also be used in PVE because of their 25% dmg buff.
Energy Drain
Surge: Recommended for PVP and PVE. An on hit effect that increases move speed and reload. Lasts for 15 seconds. Helps those with low agility stats.
Life Steal: Recommended for PVP and PVE. An on hit effect that health regeneration. Gives 10 health instantly then continues to heal over 1.5 seconds. Helps players with low recovery stats.
Soul Rip: Recommended for PVE. Will give 10% super energy on hit. Very good for super builds and very compatible with Obsidian Mind.
1st column of things
Arcane Wisdom: Recovery and Agility
Arcane Spirit: Recovery and Armor
Arcane Force: Agility and Armor
Passive 1
Annihilate: Recommended for PVP. Very good choice as it increases grenade and Nova Bomb blast radius. Note that it doesn't increase the radius, range, on the grenades. Just the explosion radius. Can be used effectively in PVE also.
Angry Magic: Recommended for PVP. Nova Bomb tracking enemies is very helpful. Good with every nova bomb. Note that the tracking isn't anything like Truth tracking so you may want to use another perk if you don't like it. Good for beginners and veterans of the subclass.
The Hunger: HIGHLY recommend for PVE as it allows you to have 7 second grenade cool down off of an Energy Drain melee. Can be used in PVP.
2nd column of things
Ancestral Order: Recovery, Agility, and Armor
Chaos Order: Agility
Divine Order: Armor
Passive 2
Vortex Mastery: Good choice for PVP and PVE but only if you are using specific things. Increased axion bolt range, Increased duration of vortex grenade and vortex nova bomb.
Bloom: working sort of like a golden gun combustion, this perk is great for crowd control. Recommended for PVE, but it can be used effectively in PVP also.
Embrace the Void: HIGHLY recommended for PVP and PVE. Having grenade kills triggering health regeneration AND energy drain is an excellent combo for every activity.
Recommended Voidwalker exclusive Exotics:
Obsidian Mind: Very good helmet for Nova Bomb spam build. Coupled with high intellect, and embrace the void and the hunger you can be very lethal in PVP and PVE. Also good with Soul Rip.
Voidfang Vestments: A good overall chest plate. Let's you have a 3rd axion bolt seeker for more enemies and you spawn with full grenade energy. Good with both high and low discipline as you can either use a lot of grenades or respawn with full grenades.
Nothing Manacles: IMO the best Voidwalker exotics there are. These amazing gauntlets enable the scatter grenades to track enemies. Although they keep the same range/radius, it makes the scatter grenades consistently one shot guardians. Also they are amazing for PVE.
The Ram: Another great helmet for PVE and PVP. This exotic helmet makes every melee, yes including the ones where you don't have energy drain cooled down, trigger life steal. This allows for you to run surge, or Soul Rip with life steal at the same time. The other part of it makes you have +3 armor. So you can run many different builds and have ta good level of armor with it equipped. Very good choice for every activity.
I would like to thank you for making it through this. Let me know if you liked it and if I should make more. Also lets up vote this thing and get this stuff out there. Also let me know what you think about this in the comments. :)
Big thanks to bitera and XCertifiedSwagX and dogSlayer2000 for their insight to the subclass and correcting me in some of the places.
Edit 1: The grenade order is reversed by accident. Sorry for the confusion this may have caused.

You sure about that Scatter Grenade damage? I've definitely one-hit killed people with full armour with them before.

There is only one rule when playing a Voidwalker: "Energy drain is love; energy drain is life." Seriously, make use of that shit. Axion bolts + Voidfang Vestments or Scatter grenades + Nothing Manacles with Embrace the Void perk is beautiful. In last weeks Heroic strike playlist--modifiers were void burn and catapult--I was consistently getting far more kills than my teammates by a large margin even though I had basically no precision kills (i.e. I never used my gun at all). Just grenades everywhere, non stop. Not even a Radiant Sunsinger could compete

I like to use voidwalker and there's only 1 setup for me. Infinite abilities. Nothing manacles+Scatter grenade+The hunger+Soul Rip+Into the void (I think. The last perk)= Destruction. Your grenades become your primary weapon when dealing with smaller enemies and it saves you ammo. Plus you constantly regen health.

Is armor capped at 10? Or does it still increase at 11, 12 etc. Wondering about max armor build+the ram+void armor chest
-
Are you going to make one fur Stormtrance?I have been maining my warlock since I started the game in January and I'd like to know how to enjoy the fullest out of my Storm Caller(I kind if figure the voidwalker's out)

DID ANYBODY RUN VOIDWALKER WITH MANACLES IN STRIKES, LAST WEEK? Endless Grenades! It was the closest thing to multiple orgasms in Destiny!
-
I love vortex for PvP haha so many people walk into that:-) Great post
-
I like using vortex move bomb in pvp. You don't know how many times I've caught guardians on it afterwards

Brilliant post.

First character I used this last iron banner was warlock, and ran nothing manacles. After I bit though, I realized something. I still had the same scatter grenades even if they got thrown at the enemies feet. They just wouldn't track. On occasion they would, but 99% of the time they did the normal thing. Anybody else have this issue?

Edited by Cyber: 7/6/2016 12:04:52 AMClaws of Ahamkara are very useful, too.

How does angry magic help in any way? I don't see the use of having tracking on nova bombs.

Props for contributing! Anybody got a link for Hunter anything of this sort? Much appreciated!

Voidwalker is the only subclass I have maxed on my Warlock. Third character, but it has its high points.

This thread summarized: Every perk is good in PvP and can also be good in PvE. Also included in-game descriptions in case we failed to see them there.

And yet you said nothing about how to Fly instead of Glide.

Been a voidwalker since day one so this isn't new to me. Regardless this is a very well done post, and would most definitely help those who want to give the awesomeness that is the voidwalker a whirl.
-
Im new to being a warlock so this helps thanks! :)

Nice. I played on a void walker this week for a bit and I thought it was amazing, looking forward to levelling it up :)

I have been using Dire Ahamkara Skull lately. I do about as well with it as I do with Nothing Manacles. Take this with a grain of salt, I am not a PvP guru. But I can tell a difference re: getting killed less often while supering, and the improved life steal probably also helps.

Does it have anything in the skill tree to defend lag??

Edited by XCertifiedSwagX: 7/5/2016 9:12:49 AMVoidwalker since I first popped in the game Only a few things you should know : 1. Never use blink. It's good for what it does but all the nerfs made it more trouble than it's worth. 2. Nothing Manacles. Nothing Manacles. Nothing Manacles. Voidfangs with the eternal seeker loadout is good but everything falls short of the Manacles. Ram is highly overrated. As a Warlock you'll want to avoid melee battles at all costs so I don't get much use out of the Ram. That sounds weird but they swing way too slow for reliable follow up hits. A Warlock melee should be used like a shotgun: finishing blows only. 3. Equip the "Scheme" emote then always use it before sending a giant ball of death towards heavy or Zone B

Vortex + Surge + annihilate + bloom + scatter grenade + nothing manacles = the most lethal glass cannon out there.
