Technically, you can play on an apple monitor. I have a 21" imac. About three months ago, remote play was introduced for iOS. It's terrible though. Not max resolution and heavy input lag. You can't directly connect your ps4 to the imac, since the display is not made for external input sources. But if you have an independent apple monitor it might work. You'd have to buy a Lightning/hdmi adapter, but they are pretty cheap. I have no idea If apple monitors as such are even optimzed for gaming, my guess is that they are not.

A monitor is better imo. Something like the benQ RL24" or RL27" as the RL series was designed specifically for console gaming

1 ReplyThere is absolutely no reason to buy a gaming monitor for Destiny. It will make a slight difference in input lag but not enough to tell. Unless you are really struggling with input lag on your 50 inch TV, buying a monitor is gonna not to much.
And c'mon man, it's Destiny.
1 ReplyI played on 22 to 60 and my favorite is 27. Currently using an Asus mx279. There are a ton of choices out there for good gaming monitors

Also wanna know if it's possible to use an apple monitor ?
Depends on what inputs your monitor has ("apple monitor" is a fairly generic term) Personally, I use an older, but still viable, monitor... LG e2350v. 23.5" 1920x1080, led backlit, 5ms response time, hdmi (with audio pass through to a headphone jack). Works fine. Very little, if any, noticeable smearing/ghosting. If not that then an LG 37" lcd TV. All depends on my mood (or which room I'm in).

I play on a big TV and I don't perform that badly in PVP. That being said I've never used a monitor for destiny so if I did, I could be a crucible god right now.

I play on a 65 inch 4k

I sit at my desk and use a 27 inch gaming monitor. A bit longer than an arms length away. It works really well for me.

Edited by Colloquial_Bloke: 7/3/2016 6:57:27 AM24" monitor. It seems small, but it really isn't. It's easier to keep the entire screen in view. Plus, a 24" screen is meant for 1080p. The 27" screens work better for 1440. Edit: you can get a great 24" BenQ for less than $200.

Edited by DankZaku: 7/3/2016 7:01:57 AMI game on pc/ps4. I have a Asus ROG 144hz monitor I use for bf4 and CS:GO. I hooked my ps4 up to it for a bit and did some testing, zero difference between it and my 50 inch Sony. Main reason being Destiny runs at 30 fps. PC is a whole different story obviously. Some people like playing on smaller screens tho but anything other than an IPS with low response time is a waste of money for a ps4. Just get a good quality screen and you will be set. If you really don't like playing on your TV that is.

Monitors are worth it, especially if you like playing very competitive games. I have the ASUS VS248h-p and it is great. It is a 24 inch and is actually only $150 on amazon right now.

I play on a 27" ben q gaming monitor. Works great. I find I play alot better sitting a desk with the screen closer. Used to play on 70" sitting much further away.
