Clara, surprised that he didn't jump and run away, looks back at him and gives the best she can of a small grin. Reese smiles. "It's rare that she ever approaches anyone aside from myself. She's really...self-conscious about herself." Reese explained. He notices the knife Mortar juggles in his hand. "You like knives?" He asked curiously.

  • They're useful, if that's what you mean. I mostly use my one of a kind sword and a barrage of iron balls. I've been called "The humanoid tank" for this reason. *He holds a hand up, and an iron ball the size of a basketball forms in his hand*

  • Reese stares at the floating iron ball in amazement. Clara, now having felt more comfortable, looks in utter curiosity. Speechless, Reese asked hesitantly, "How did you--make that...out of thin air? It's great and all, but it should be impossible to create and destroy any sort of mass." They continue watching the iron ball rapidly spin.

  • Oh, um, not exactly sure. Had this for a long time, for over twenty thousand years. I think it might just reorganize oxygen atoms subatomic particle by subatomic particle until they are iron atoms, it's weird.

  • "Huh...well, we were just about to head out right now; you can tag along if you want." Reese invited "Alright, let's see if the ship is working right." As Reese went to inspect the cargo ship, Clara, feeling obligated to share, melts into a silver puddle and sticks out her head from the surface.

  • Oh, that's cool. Alright, let's see if everything inside is intact. *Mortar seems to dissipate into the ground and reform in the cockpit, where he looks at all the controls* Damn, I never liked ships.

  • "Eh, it's not the best, but it took us all the way over here." Reese admitted. "Alright, let's get this puppy rolling." Reese turned the key to turn on the engine. However, the motor puffed out three seconds afterward. "Huh, that's weird. Let's try that again." He tried reigniting the engine with the key, but to no avail. "I'll go see what's going on." Reese activated his Pulsur Gauntlets and drew out an array of tools. He exited the ship and opened the hood to the engine. When he opened the back hatch, he found a small timer counting down. Clara was just about to enter the ship. "It's rigged! Take cover!" Reese shouted. Reese hurled toward Clara and covered her behind a nearby log, and the ship burst into a fiery explosion. Stunned by what occurred, they slowly got up from behind the log and observed the large mess that resulted. "Mortar? Mortar, you alright?" Reese yelled.

  • "Perhaps you shouldn't play with things you don't understand..." Parker stepped out from behind a tree and casually walked over to the burning rubble. He cocked his weapon and aimed it slightly at Reese. "Now, identify yourselves, intruders"

  • Reese, just recovering from the aftershock, slowly raised his hands cautiously approached Parker, but not close enough to provoke anything. "Look, we don't want any trouble. Our ship blew up, but we didn't mean to hurt anyone here; whoever sold me that ship planted a bomb in there to kill us. All we want is to settle in a new colony and start new lives here, that's all." Reese said carefully; he was still shook by what just happened. Meanwhile, Clara went looking for Mortar. She found him laying unconscious on the side of a tree. Panicked, she pressed him with both hands on his shoulders to get him to wake up.

  • Parker looks leans back slightly, as if surprised. "Oh? I was under the impression you stole this ship from my contractor. At least, that's what he told me." He keeps his weapon trained on Reese, while looking at Clara through his peripherals. This group didn't feel threatening, but Parker wasn't taking any chances.

  • A large look of confusion spread across Reese's face. "Stole a ship?" He repeated. "I never stole that ship from anyone. It was lent to me by a dealer at a trade port on another planet; I promised to pay him the money as soon as I could. Apparently, it seems like it wasn't money that he wanted." He said observantly, as he looked back at the flaming scrap in the middle of the clearing. "I don't want any trouble, I don't want to hurt anyone; believe me." Reese looked at Parker with wide eyes, trying to communicate that he was telling the complete truth of what he knew. Clara was still trying to wake up Mortar, now pushing harder and more passionately than before.

"You could be telling the truth... Or lying. In my line of work, it's usually the latter." Parker aimed down his sights. "Either way, the SHG is paying top dollar for your capture. Give me a reason not to take you in."

With no other option, Reese dawned his sleek-black mask and activated his gauntlets. "Please...I really don't want to do this." Reese begged, his voice transitioning to a deeper and more static-like tone through his mask. As soon as he drew out his SAOR, the ground shook. Parker and Reese were shaken as well. When they regained their balance, the ground shook again, this time much harder. A flock of scarlet birds flew quickly out of the trees and darted eastward. Clara was shaken as well, and stopped to look around and listen. A third rumble hit the ground. Everyone was silent, not a muscle was moved. Suddenly, a large, lizard-like creature emerged from the density of the trees. It slithered out into the clearing, its black scales shimmering a red reflection. It was about 60 feet long, stood in a crouching position ready to pounce. Four red eyes were focused on Reese and Parker. It slammed its front legs on the floor (causing them to fall over), and let out a high-pitched, screeching roar similar to that of a large jet engine. "Maybe it's friendly?" Reese suggested. The large reptilian beast clawed at Reese, only a few feet away from his head. "Never mind..."

  • "Heh, all you had to do to get me to lower my weapon was ask politely." Parker hesitantly lowered his weapon and placed it on the ground next to him. He raised his hands. "What now, hot shot? You going to have your big lizard friend eat me? Wouldn't be the first time something like that has happened... Parker chuckled to himself. Those two thieves had no idea how powerful his sidearm could be against the internals of an organism. He only needed a chance to use it. Shifting his weight to avoid his pistol from being seen, he stared down the lizard. "C'mon you freakin' giant gecko! Do your worst!" His deep voice sounded slightly unsure of itself, as if he was calculating all the variables that could go wrong with being attacked by a large lizard.

  • "That Geico gecko sure as hell ain't mine." Reese remarked. "If I was an animal person, I probably would have had a much safer profession than I do now." The reptilian creature began to circle around its two prey, hissing at and assessing them. Reese ran an ID scan through his mask. A built-in AI buzzed: "It appears to be a Magalagos Salamander, known to be one of the deadliest reptiles in the southern hemisphere of Gytadon. Its fangs can generate up to 30,000 volts of electricity, allowing it to paralyze and pierce even steel walls. Using its four red eyes, it can see at a 270 degree angle at once, and detect its prey with heat-sending vision. It's reflective black scales are hard enough to deflect bullets, making Magalagos Salamanders widely sought after by hunters and those alike. However, it is nearly impossible to trap due to its size, and is immune to almost any known form of poison or toxin." Reese drew out his NME and aimed it at the salamander. "Well, if you have any good ideas or really great taming methods, we could use them right now." Reese said. "Oh, and I know you've got that thing pointed at me; knowing people in your business, that seems to be the case."

  • Before Reese even finishes speaking, Parker realized his mistake and barrel rolled towards his weapon. As he came up from the roll, he fired three shots towards the lizard and retreated. "This isn't over yet!"

  • Reese watches as Parker scrambles away into the dense brush in the opposite edge of the clearing. "Okay! Nice to meet you...I guess." Reese farewelled. Seeing that the salamander was stunned by the bullets Parker fired, Reese grabbed the supplies remaining from the explosion and grabbed Clara by her arm. Clara, having not awoken the unconscious Mortar, tried to pull away, "Clara, we have to go!" Reese pressed. "We can't carry him, Clara. We've got to go...I don't want to lose any more of my family." Realizing that there was no alternative, she hugged the lying Mortar and let go. They ran into the dense mysterious forest, hearing the loud jet-screech echo from behind them. Tears welled up in Clara's eyes, and a cloud of guilt rained down upon Reese's mind. When the salamander regained focus, the two were long gone.
I'm guessing that's is the end of this scene. That was pretty cool. :) I wonder why Mortar jumped out though. :/
•
I just finished the scene with someone else who jumped in after the cargo ship blew up; your character was unconscious the whole time. After the ship blew up, a mercenary named Parker appeared, claiming that his employer sent him to kill the thieves that stole his ship. Reese, who never stole that ship, explained that he was lent the ship, but that it was rigged to blow up. Parker then explained that he was hired by the SHG to capture him and Clara, but when he and Reese were about to conflict, a large, black reptilian creature stormed into the clearing. Ruining his opportunity to finish the job, Parker fled into the dense forest, leaving escape as the only option for Reese. Clara, who was trying to wake Mortar up the whole time, went along with Reese, devastated that she was unable to save him in time. Reese, on the other hand, felt a heavy rain of guilt for being unable to bring him along.
You wake up again in the same clearing, only this time you are lying against a tree and everyone is gone (like Inception); the only thing left is the scrap heap of the cargo ship, some parts of it still flaming. Large, reptilian tracks are seen going across the middle of the clearing. On the floor, you find a small white flower the size of your thumb. You wonder where they all went.
I'm sorry; I didn't know what else to do. ;-;
•
Yeah, I read that all. Sounded cool.
Woah, lizard prints? Better find their owner. *Mortar begins running in the direction of the prints with inhuman speed. After a minute or two, the lizard is in sight*

  • The salamander, unaware of Mortar's presence, headed into a large cave in the side of an angled cliff, its feet vibrating the ground as it stomped. Stopping in place for a moment, the beast ran a quick electric current through itself and shook left and right, yawning right afterward; a small electric current can be seen coursing through its teeth. Exhausted after a long day of prowling, the beast trudged into the cavern. As soon as it entered, the stalactites at the upper lip of the cave began to glow a shade of aqua blue and grow lower, quickly shutting away the cave. The stalactites stopped glowing, and molded along the outside cliff, making it appear as if the cave never was. It began to rain.

  • Mortar, realizing that they were nowhere near the cave, began to look elsewhere, wandering around the dense, rainy forest as he went.
I think this might be a good place to end this scene for now. That was pretty cool. :)
