It's been out for quite some time. Just get Mechwarrior Online if your PC can handle it.

I've enjoyed it so far, but the matchmaking and servers are frustrating atm. The fact that you can only matchmake with a party of 3 for most modes sucks if you're in a large group. Doesn't help that it may also split your group into different teams. Not to mention that it may matchmake you into a full server where only the party leader gets in. Another issue (which will be fixed with practice) is that some mechs are annoying to try and fight against, namely the Rocketeer. Since we can't customize our loadouts, we have to switch to a mech to counter the situation (which we may not have unlocked). With all of that said, I do enjoy the pace and concept of the game. I will continue to play until I get burned out.

Did the VR Tutorial and a horde game. Was pretty fun. Would never spend a penny because I don't enjoy PvP and a horde mode in an indie MP game that runs at 20 frames per second during combat isn't worth much.

I used to play the -blam!- out of mechassault and Hawken definitely scratches the itch it left. I haven't played it in a while though.

1 ReplyThe monetization is unobtrusive and well done. I can't comment too much on the gameplay. Last time I played it was before the combat overhaul. I did really enjoy it back then, however.

I had a lot of fun with the game for a while on PC (before the original devs sort of... Yeah). Hopefully my old strategy works: When in doubt, run around with the predator cloak mech. Fully charge up its primary at all times, and when you see an enemy just -blam!-ing unload with the charged primary shot and all your secondary mines, proceed to murder someone. As long as you don't take damage it'll recloak automatically a few seconds after you stop firing. Basically the only weakness of that thing is people who run around spamming heatseekers, anyone else will miss it because of the motion blur from movement.
