Had some dude call me out saying all my characters use "meta" weapons because of my MIDA. Don't even know what that means.
Like, you're insulting me because I like using scout rifles? And I use a very good one?
You play to win. Why use something you're not good with? I don't get it.

Meta is something made by the community

1 ReplyThe Junkrat meta. Oops... wrong game.
-
It stands for Most Effective Tactic Available.

2 RepliesYou do realise there is something called fun. Its the purpose of many games that exist... for entertainment. So.. most people don't play to win, they play for fun and can but don't have to win in the process.

Guns that destiny hipsters deem as being too popular to use. They then display their individuality by using the same guns like NLB or First Curse so they can proclaim how skilled they are.

1 ReplyThe meta is the game within the game. Basically the game of what weapons are most dominant right now in pvp and using said weapons. In Magic: The Gathering the meta would be what types of decks are being played at the current tournament and how to counter / use those decks effectively.

The "meta" is a word you use to other players that just kicked your ass inside out. It means 1. I suck at pvp. 2. I'm cool as F but stupid enough to try to get kills with uncompetitive weapons. 3. I'm salty 4. For me this is real life 5. No really, this is my life.

2 RepliesNo land beyond, sidearm & taken sword plus defense bubble....

2 RepliesIt has no meaning in itself. It's a prefix for metagaming. Look that up if you want to know more.

6 RepliesMost Effective Tactic Available M.E.T.A Meta Get it?

4 RepliesThere have been posts in the past with people arguing over the origin of the term. Basically, it refers to a gaming strategy that has originated from outside the actual game. Meaning that you chose to use a particular gun because you read about it on the forums, not because you tested all of your guns and like that one the best. So nowadays, people see a streamer say that a particular gun is awesome, or read on the forums that a particular gun is OP, and start using it. These are the 'meta' weapons. The guy was insulting you by saying that you are a sheep, using the most popular guns because you're following the crowd, versus some less well-known weapon. I personally just use what works the best for me- if it happens to be the current 'meta', IDGAF.
