It could easily be dismissed as superficial correlation, but consider this;
-There are very few criteria for being taken;
-1)Oryx has to offer you a new power you don't already have.
-2)You have to take that power in exchange for your volition.
There are plenty of examples of Taken who have regained their volition post-oryx. Malok, Keksis, Sylok, The seditious mind, Noru'usk, So the 2nd criteria isn't terribly important. It's the first one that matters. And do you know of any other Harpies that can delete you from existence? And where does that ability come up again? The Deathsingers. It doesn't confirm takenism, since the deathsingers probably aren't taken, and it's not like the vex can't give themselves ulterior or auxiliary powers. Look at Quodron and the Templar. Still, those are bosses.
I'm guessing the original Harpies that Oryx "took" could have been pulled to the vault after they were taken, and without Oryx's influence, had no objective and thus wander the labyrinth looking to test their abilities.
Or maybe they're from a reality where the vex took are beholden to Akka, or worse, where they took Akka's power. If the brought them to the vault for research purposes, it would have a precedent since research seems to be one of the vex's motivations. We saw this with Quioria and Oryx. The Vault itself is the Vex's take on Throne Realms. And there are taken in the vault after we killed atheon, but time in the vault is...weird.
I dunno, maybe I'm full of crap. Some people say that they're not even similar looking, which, yeah, the coloring on the energy's a little off, and so is the pattern it takes, but I'm starting to see it more semantically. Like once you can weild the reality-warping powers of the darkness, are you all that different from taken?
Upvote so more people can chime-in, Back up your answer with elaboration, and above all, treat each other with respect. Don't dismiss each other with snarky buIIshit, don't sling crap at each other.

Thankfully, no. The Gorgons are corrupted by the over exposure to the time stream. What you see is the residual power left from the tampering with the time stream.
-
The taken arrived in vault when they took the vex because they took the ability to control time thus being in the vault at every possible time. Preydyth ran into the taken as he came across an important spit in the vaults time, the taken had to stop him to make sure the vex survived long enough for them to be taken in the future (hope your still with me). Knowing that the vex and taken could then control time together until we got rid of the taken, perhaps the vex used what happened and travelled through time themselves and created the gorgons with vex and taken technology. In a way using taken power against the taken so of any taken ever entered the vault again they would be instantly wiped from time by a gorgon. Hope this is a good enough answer

1 ReplyI think the Gorgons are organic. This is because Kabr drank the "white liquid" that tasted of the sea. This "white liquid" is seen in the stomachs of the hobgoblins, goblins, and minotaurs. So, therefore the Gorgons are organic SOMEWHAT. the degree of organic makeup is not said.

1 ReplyI've thought the same thing. Praedyth's Revenge:
Praedyth's fall isn't over... because it hasn't happened yet... and it will happen again.
We heard about Praedyth before we went into the Vault of Glass. Thing is, we didn't find out about the fate of Praedyth until TTK came out. Just like you said, time is weird in the Vault. Praedyth was in the Vault while the Taken were messing around in there...and ultimately, he met his death. If Praedyth went into the Vault the same time all of the others did, this should mean that the taken were already in the vault before they first went in. In the book of sorrows, it shows that the Hive had some history with the Vex before we were brought into the mix. I really don't know where I'm going with this....all this time line stuff makes my brain feel mushy

4 RepliesThe VoG was the Vex trying to mimic Hive throne worlds. The Gorgons must be their imitation of Deathsingers.
-
I read the title of this post as George Takei Oh my
-
11 RepliesNo. Maybe if you had a better argument than, "They kind of look similar" I might take this theory more seriously.
-
19 RepliesGorgon's can't be Taken, there is nothing organic in them, they are 100% machine.
-
6 RepliesOryx can only take living things. Harpies don't have a single aspect of them that is organic, therefore Oryx can not take them. Case closed & thread closed.
-
3 RepliesHarpies cannot be taken as they a vex that have no mind or that white liquid stuff Minotaurs have it inside their armour In b4 the smart asses Gorgons are an imitation of the death singers
-
No. They are not.
-
1 ReplyThey can delete you from existence because the Vault is in THIER universe... THEIR own space...
-
No, they're single.
-
I ran VoG a few days ago and asked this exact question. Weird.
-
2 RepliesI've always thought this as well. Just goes to show you "the taken" and TTK was cut content from years agoooooooo..... hard to think so much more is probably being held from us..
-
4 RepliesWell... They are 100% machine first off... And lets say that somehow oryx did get in... He would die lmao once the Gorgons see you or anything other than vex itself... you're wiped from existence itself so no escaping that
-
2 RepliesWhile I agree that they sorta match the aesthetic, the Gordon's share a power with everything else in the vault. The gorgons are an ontological weapon, they shape reality (only when inside the vault) to be one where the Guardians no longer exist. The oracles define a future in which the Guardians are extinct and then Atheon or the Templar makes it *this* reality. In the vault the vex can sort of ignore causality, but the Aegis serves as an anchor. Besides if Oryx could make some beings with the ability to redefine reality, wouldn't he have done it long ago?
-
The Gorgons actually look like the Taken, for starters. Second off, didn't Oryx go up against the Vex at some point? And if he did, did he leave some survivors?
-
Oryx doesn't offer you power. He steals your will and forces the power onto you regardless of your want. That's why the enemies are called taken
-
Akka is dead but far from gone.
-
No. Gorgons are simply Vex superweapons.
-
-
-
No, they are vex simulation vessels at this time, altering a timeline
-
I'm under the impression gorgon are the vex attempting to work out how being taken works. After all if they encourted it while fighting oryx then it's not much of a stretch they started experiments to take their own units and make them stronger
