What Are The Motives For Each Race?
I do know that the Fallen want the Traveler back, but what are the motives for the Cabal, Hive, and Vex?

The Cabal want to conquer. The Hive want to destroy the light. The Vex are very mysterious and have an unknown motive, but they most likely either wish to destroy the light or rule the universe.

Like us they also had an event similar to our Collapse they call the Whirlwind. A lot of Houses were wiped out and their proud culture destroyed. They believe we are thieves who stole the Traveler and the only way to reclaim their lost glory is to take the Traveler back. The Vex search endlessly for an emperor to all outcomes. They want a plan in place so no matter what happens they have a contingency plan that allows for their continued survival. They build endless projects to satisfy endless scenarios utilizing any and all information they can obtain. They don't care about the war between light and dark beyond how it interferes with their pattern. We're less at war and more just in each other's way as we both pursue mutually exclusive goals. The Cabal, like the Vex, care nothing about Light and Dark. They're in this system for the sole purpose of studying and acquiring Vex tech for the Empire. It's also worth noting that all units encountered thus far are the empire's equivalent to scouts. The hive embrace the philosophy of the Darkness. They want to cut all weakness from the universe until only the "final, perfect shape" remains. It's a perversely extreme twist on Darwinism. Also, through a long and complicated story told in the Book of Sorrow, they have a somehow at personal vendetta against the Traveler. The result is their goal is to extinguish all light and life they can. To realize their version of a perfect universe they must wipe us out.

They found it on earth and they want it back. The hive live by the swords law they must kill to feed there worm God's and the more they eat the hungrier they become. If they fail to feed there worm gods they die out of hunger. Oryx have some beef with the traveler and they want us as tributes for there worm gods. The Cabal are military race they live to invade, take recourses and expand. They are running away from somethings that is unknown to us but the reason they are here is because of there conquest they just happen to reach us. The Vex motivation is unknown but they seem to serve the darkness directly. They control time&space and they reached us because Crota son of Oryx cut through with his sword and open a portal and made a mistake and vex came through it. The taken are those who were taken by the power of Oryx that he took when Oryx kill one of the worm gods. Oryx is dead and because we didn't take his place a power vacuum been open and so far the Taken seem to work freely without a master. To put it simply -Fallen want to steal from us -Hive Want to eat us -Cabal want to invade us -Vex want to eradicate us -Taken want to fill the power vacuum Hope it helps. The [b]Hive[/b] wanted to not live a miserable life at the bottom. They made a deal with the Devil to stay at the top. In exchange for never being anything but the best (if they are not the best, they die), the Hive are required to hunt the Light. What is the Traveler if not a giant target of Light. The [b]Vex[/b] want to be immortal. They pervade all of time, swimming in the River of Time likes its their own. Do not be fooled by the idea that time is some grand concept, it is merely another plane of space. The Vex are not immortal, they make mistakes. They tried to write themselves into reality so that they cannot be killed, but the Guardians stopped them. With immortality still not secured, they were scared. What best replaces fear than a god? The Darkness is eternal...immortal. The Vex attached themselves to it through worship, they worked to manifest themselves with it so that they too could become immortal. The [b]Cabal[/b] are a physical manifestation of war. They live for the fight. Oil pumps through their armour and the pounding of boots is all that they know. They take and they take and they take, and that is why the Vanguard fears them. These beasts clearly only want our planet, right? They took Mars and countless others. Surely they are nothing more than conquerers? No. They too are conquerable. The unstoppable force knows something stronger, and they are scared. The Darkness has conquered and it has conquered at twice the rate of the rhino warriors. Are they still invading? Or are they running fast enough to escape? What will happen when the Darkness catches them (or has it already)? Will they join it like the Vex and Hive?

Fallen want the Traveler, Hive want to eat our light, Vex want to become more powerful with darkness and time stuff and the Cabal are here by an unknown reason

To find the motive of the vex you should do the paradox mission and do the NTTE part of the mission and listen to the dialog The fallen want their [b]great machine bl[/b] back [spoiler]the great machine is the traveler[/spoiler]. The great machine left them after oryx attacked the home planet of the fallen and the reason they see machines as gods because the traveler is a machine. Their servitors are a copy of what they understand about the traveler. The fallen need ether to survive, first they recived this from the great machine and now they use servitors. The hive needs to destroy/consume light in order to survive because if they dont they will die by the wormgods. thats how we killed oryx he used to much of his power what consumes light and the bombs are his reserves of light and so the worm killed him. There is a lot more lore behind killing him but this is the best i can do now. The cabel not sure their is not a lot known about the cabel and they are not intresting to me so i dont know a lot about them. If i missed things please tell me and correct me if iam wrong its bin a while since i read grimmoir cards

The Fallen want our stuff. The Hive want our Light. The Cabal want our planets. The Vex, well, they just kind of do their own thing. They only really attack us when we get in the way.

1 ReplyHive are pure darkness so they naturally want to end us. We met Cabal on Mars and they love war so they attacked us. Vex well vex are WIERD we barley know anything about them they just want to kill us. Also yes fallen want the traveler back (which I think the traveler left the other races)
