Teabagging Penalties

Should bad sporting behaviors be discouraged?

Yes

No

I'm not sure if it's possible around here, but I would like an honest and adult discussion. So any immature responses that lack reasonable thoughts (ie: git gud), will be ignored. I encourage that if you vote "no", to provide a thought-out opinion to back up your response. What are your thoughts on the idea of Destiny having some form of penalty for unsporting behavior, such as teabagging? I don't get upset at being teabagged, but in a roundabout way, I get upset at those bad sportmanship attitudes not being discouraged. You gain a sense of how many players out there go out of their way to try and be crappy to others. Sports have basic unsporting behavior penalties, so why not Destiny or other competitive games? Now, I'm not a dainty flower. I actually believe in encouraging people to have thick skin and to know how not to let a crappy person get to you. That's a good life skill, because I'm not naive enough to be blind to the fact that the world will always have crappy people. But I also believe in discouraging crappy behavior. I look at it this way: What are the benefits to teabagging or other unsporting behaviors? I can't think of a single sound benefit, but I can think of a handful of negative drawbacks; it serves no purpose other than making one group feel good about themselves by attempting to make the other group feel bad about themselves, and then encouraged those players to do it to other players. It creates a cycle of negativity, which in turns isolates the members of the community, and for a game designed to be communal, this all seems counterproductive. So when I can't think of any benefits to something, and only see drawbacks, my instinct is to change something. It can be argued that emotes and other things can be used as a substitute for teabagging, which is a fair argument. Of course people will always find ways to belittle others. But I suppose I believe in taking small steps to encourage positive behavior, and discourage negative behavior. The hard part is coding something to detect teabagging or other unsporting behaviors, but that fact aside, I'm curious at least about your thoughts on the general idea existing of encouraging positive sporting behaviors, and discouraging bad.

Teabagging is an attempt at psychological warfare. It is meant to make you angry and demoralize you in order to throw you off balance. It establishes dominance in a way. It let's your opponent know that you have rendered them helpless and are now treating them as you see fit. People who are mad and hell bent on revenge aren't playing at their best. Advantage to the teabagger. You do realize that bungie basically invented teabagging right? If they didn't encourage the act of humiliating your opponent, they would not have added so many taunt emotes. Trying to implement a punishment system for bad behavior in a game where we are killing each other seems pretty dumb to me. The crucible isn't an organized sport and trying to make it fit that mold won't work. If anything, it's more like the military. Trust me, those guys aren't the hug it out type.

    • Ok, here is something that many people didn't see. Game 4 NBA Finals. LeBron James steps over Draymond Green and rubs his sweaty salty nut sack on the back of Green's head (per his own teamate), essentially tbagging Green. Green self res, and junk punches James. Green gets a technical foul and sits out game 5. Warriors do not win another game. James gets NBA Finals MVP and not a word is said about any unsportsmanlike conduct. It's a part of the game that is there whether you like it or not. You can go about your business or you can go Green and possibly cost your team. It's the teabaggee choice on how they should react.

    • Penalty for crouching? If I ever see you in a game, I'll vigorously dip my sack in your face

    • T-bagging is actually a tactic. Whether people realize it or not, they are using a mental tactic. Some people get mad when theyre T-bagged. This puts them on tilt and makes them play sloppy or bad.

      • Easy stop playing PVP or getting shot. I can careless if I'm TeaBagged. Just shows how stupid the person is who is wasting their time clicking a few buttons to make a gesture. Maybe they are abused at home and need an outlet or maybe they have mixed sexual fantasies or something. Who cares its just a game for gods sake. Lol

It just blows my mind on how many people now get offended by a tbag. Really? Does it hurt or something? I don't get it. Why should anyone be reprimanded for crouching down and up over your dead body. Grow up kid its just a game. If you seriously are getting offended by Tbagging then I strongly suggest you stop playing any PvP game that allows you to crouch.

          • I voted no because I think teabagging should be allowed even in real life. I don't believe in "unsportsmanlike conduct". If you can't handle a taunt, real life or fake, idk what to tell you...

          • So this is what the world has come to. Can't find anything else to complain about, so you decide that pushing the crouch button a few times is a criminal offense. Jeez.
