I agree, throwing knives were seldom of an issue for me when I set foot in the crucible. I had more issues with wombo combos or the long duration of burns. But what would I know I am not a dev team member.

A smoke bomb with Envenomed commonly tossed with a vortex grenade or in few instances a voidwall grenade by a Nightstalker. Paired with the perk known as Lockdown, the grenades and smoke lasted longer. The smoke bomb cut movement, jumping and supression where the vortex would finish the opposing player. It was an annoying tactic as it acted like a burn yet caused a visual blindness due to the smoke. This technique is often referred to as a wombo combo.
