Viking funeral needs to do more damage &
The multiplier needs to last longer

they should be able to chain up to 6 instead of 3
Hit registration is mediocre @ best
I AM TALKING PVE MAJOR BUFF, *& PVP MINOR BUFF*
Flame shield activation nerf is completely unnecessary, especially after nerfing it's strength.

Out of all the ways they could of changed Viking funeral I was surprised to see the change they came up with. The new Viking funeral is worthless. It's useless for PvP and close to useless in PvE. I relied on it to take down Crota so I could solo for warlock.

3 RepliesIt was a good idea, but they faltered on the execution. Considering they said explicitly in their blog post that Sunsingers weren't overpowered, it would seem their goal would be to replace one effect with another of equal value. How anyone might think that 5% damage bonus for three seconds is equal to what they took is beyond me. It is interesting, however, that not many seem to want the old Viking Funeral to come back. Everyone just wants the new Viking Funeral to be implemented in a way that isn't trivial and asinine. I guess that's something?

There seem to be a lot of problems with dot right now. Bungie has hinted the tick damage nerf wasn't intended. But I agree when I campaigned for Viking funeral to be melting point I also meant a comparable buff

Instead of people corner throwing firebolts, everyone will be hard scoping with snipers down choke points. This game will never be balanced. Hell, it doesn't even work right now. Sinking ship guys.

The new viking funeral is a goldfish funeral, just a toilet bowl flush. Completely screwed the perk. Everybody and everything must be equal. What's next, everyone gets participation trophies and goes to the lighthouse?

The problem I find with the change is that the new debuff effect of Viking Funeral isn't useful in its current state. It needs to be at least 10% per stack, and last 5-7 seconds. A 5% defense debuff per stack that only lasts 2-3 seconds doesn't help anyone. It's useless. Good idea, but very poor execution on their part. And its interaction with Solar Grenade is rather odd. It only activates on the initial impact of the grenade when tossed, and doesn't apply at all after that, even if an enemy that wasn't hit by it previously walks through it. The continuous damage from the Grenade isn't affected at all by the defense debuff either. Only the initial impact is affected. Sometimes it doesn't apply the debuff effect or burn at all. Very inconsistent. They really need to fix that. On that note, the damage of Solar Grenades have been widely inconsistent, even by itself, since the update. It seems much weaker than it was initially. Sometimes it does little to no damage at all. Likely another bug from the update. On one other note, it seems there's yet another bug, this one is with Viking Funeral's new debuff effect, which is doing the opposite of what it's supposed to do, and granting enemies a defense buff instead.

It might be decent in PvP if they did that again, while being actually noticeable in PvE.

We're play-testing the nerf for Bungie and once they see the numbers and note how underused and underpowered Sunsingers are, they'll bump it back up but not by much considering how conservative Bungie has become when it comes to class and weapon tuning.
