All right, I appreciate the help, but it's time I return it. Really good game imo.

      • Id recommend starting as the knight, warrior, or herald. All have relatively good weapons/shields. It would be in your best interest to learn how to parry early on. Learn when to roll and which direction to roll. Circle and backstab when possible. Use embers for boss fights if you want to summon someone or for extra health. I usually stay embered most of the time but I don't die that much. Focus on putting points into VIG/STR/DEX/END first. For the "tutorial" boss stay close and roll out of his attacks and hit him. Try staying behind him, you'll see why. If enemies are too hard to takedown try kiting them to falling off a ledge or something (you'll get it).

      • Shields are nice. But not if they engender passivity.

      • Well, to take down the super hard guys that seem like would crush you(they probably could and will) then I suggest using strategies like this. Sometimes really hard enemies have their backs facing away from you. If you don't have a longer ranged weapon or something to throw at them, you can just walk up literally a foot behind them, hit them, then run away before they can hit you. Then repeat the process. I've used this to take down like 6 big guys who were far above my level. Also, if you have a bunch of arrows or other things, you can stay at a good range, and hit the tough enemy. These strategies can take a while, but for me it was worth doing.

      • If you'd like someone to assist you, put on an ember and summon them through the runes carved in the ground with white, any other color will summon an invader who wants to kill you This kind of free summon usually only works near bosses, other than that most people are just putting signs down to be with friends. If you don't have any friends, try a DS3 LFG site, maybe their Reddit? Other than that, make sure you find Yoel on the bridge at the beginning of the undead settlement after the high wall. He gives 5 free level ups which are pretty useful.

        • Learn when to dodge and when to block. If it looks like it could shit on you ten ways to Sunday it probably can. Engage enemies on your terms, pull them one at a time and don't attack groups, this isn't devil may cry. Try to play by yourself as much as possible as that will actually improve your skill instead of cowering behind team mates. Good luck out there.

          • I assume someone beat me to "don't die," so I'll go with this one. Might be a bit long-winded since I feel if you get this point you can adapt to anything in these games. Don't get too hung up on what looks like the best strategy at first glance. Plenty of enemies, and bosses for that matter, can be dealt with flawlessly at point blank without even dodge rolling or blocking simply by standing in the right place at the right time. A guy's beaten the game at level 1 without blocking, dodging or parrying. Just because you're out of a boss' reach, it doesn't mean you're safer than you would be if you stayed close to him and simply dodged his attacks. Just because he has an opening and could only take a couple hits to finish, that doesn't mean you should rush in even at the risk of being hit. Just because you take a big hit doesn't mean you should freak out and immediately abandon everything to get somewhere you can drink your flask, and just because something huge is charging you it doesn't mean you should run the hell away or try to always dodge to the side. Rather, this is another tip but because of rolling invincibility frames many dangerous-looking attacks are actually safer to dodge if you roll into the enemy or their swing to try and get behind them. The game isn't simply about staying alive when every pixel on the screen wants to kill you. It's about taking control of the situation, keeping yourself in a comfortable environment no matter where you are or how close you are to the boss, and turning the tables through that control.

          • You have to use an ember to summon friendlies, but that means you can be invaided. My advice is to face the challenge alone. If it's a boss stay back, and watch the pattern, don't get greedy.
None of the bosses are too difficult Imo.
• In order for someone to help you you first must see their summon sign on the ground. Press "A" twice to summon them. In order to see their summons you must be "Embered", or Kindled, or whatever you want to call the 30% extra health state after consuming an Ember. (which fades on death) Note: you cannot summon until reaching the High Wall. Note 2: if you are trying to summon someone specific, fill all requirements aboce and set a password in the options.

            • Poise doesn't mean anything in this one. Focus more so on dodging rather than blocking. overall this game is a lot more fun to me when you're doing a special type of run through, but you may wanna save -blam!-ing around until your second character or play-through. Invading prioritizes worlds with 2 or more players already in. Estoc and Dark sword are stupidly OP. Doing a miracle only build isn't viable in this one, lightning spears cost too much to use for the underwhelming effect they have. If you need a tip for build, I'd suggest a quality one or if you're confident enough a bleed one.
\[T]/
