I... I dunno. It just kinda happens and is accepted. I've never done it personally, but it's happened to me multiple times (during XC and track of all sports, not a sport where it's really prevalent like football).

I've never understood it myself. Straight men do it too, so it may not be a sexual thing. It's not just athletes either. I've seen and had it done as a form of congrats or praise. People kiss when their sports team win. Ass slapping is kind of fun though. I'm always on the receiving end though.
