[u]-FIREBOLTS + VIKING FUNERAL[/u]
Players demanded this combo nerfed in some way because it was OP however..
After completely changing how Viking Funeral works (I think it's good) why would you have the need to nerf Firebolts?
Let me explain
[b]The Efficiency of these grenades depended on the Extra burn (now gone) of Viking Funeral, without it, Firebolts are among the weakest grenades in game.[/b]
They currently hit for 86 dmg (97 before TTK) and burn for 4 (Was 7 pre 2.3) The nerfs to Detection area and arming time have made them less reliable. Their use is now slower and feels lagged compared to it's Arc cousin Arcbolt Grenades.
As a side effect it's become harder for players who run Firebolts during radiance to get kills. Remember;
-A single firebolt has never been OHK
-The Burn is now 4
-Viking Funeral doesn't burn anymore.
-Smaller detection area
-Slower arming time.
[b]It's just too much. Viking Funeral made it the God grenade but no more. The Nerfs to Firebolts alone are overkill.[/b]
[b]Revert the Changes and bring it back to 97 base dmg to compensate for the burn loss[/b]
[u]FLAMESHIELD[/u]
I honestly thought they were done with it, After decreasing cooldown in 66% and making it weaker but apparently not.
Having a 0.3 sec delay before proc is the icing on the cake coupled with the cut in half burn dmg, Flameshield is now a Subpar melee ability.
[b]They should at least have the cooldown back to normal levels (25 secs w/ Tier 5 Strength) as compensation for these 2 Nerfs.[/b]
One more thing, the Changes to Damage over time affect all solar subclasses but there should be and exception for [b]Sunsinger Radiance (Super) Increase the Damage over time back where it was before 2.3, Sunsinger class revolves around DOT and Radiance amplifies the effectiveness of your abilities so It does make sense.[/b]

I see some people don't get me when I talked about Firebolts and VKF; I'm fine with the new VKF, but the grenade itself was never the problem, Bungie overnerfed it.
I understand how Sunsingers would always a melee fight due to Flameshield, adding a little delay will make for fairer fights, However let's recap on the nerfs.
1 -Weaker Shield.
2 -66% Slower charge rate (Slowest in game) That means a 1:30+ min cooldown with No strength (Standard is 1 min).
3 -Activation delay.
Out of those 3 Nerfs, only Number 1 & 3 make sense and I deem them fair since.. Well, that's what people complained about, it's ok.
On the other hand Number 2 is ridiculous. People wanted a better chance to go against Sunsingers and the nerfs to Shield health and Proc time provide such relief.
Revert charge time please.
Also, I'm aware that the Burn dmg reduction is a glitch, Thank you.

1 ReplyComing from a person who only uses a warlock. That was all you could rely on was your instant flame shield and your 5 year burning grenades. Seriously just use a weapon for once instead of spamming used to be op grenades and shooting someone once in the pinkie and killing them. Either adapt to another sunsinger build, main another subclass, or just make a different character and learn them! I'm tired of all the warlocks constantly complaining about their poor firebolts and flame shields being nerfed. Seriously just calm down and accept they were OP. Btw 0.3 seconds won't be the end of the world that is barely any time.

1 ReplyFirst off, the 4 tick is a glitch. Bungie said so themselves. Second, it's still more damage than Arcbolts do (~80 with no burn). Third, it's still much more reliable than Voidwall and Vortex grenades. Fourth, they make enemies weaker to your gunfire with VF now. Use your primary for a change, instead of spamming grenades.

4 RepliesFrom what ive been able to deduce. Bungie has a tendacy to reduce several facotrs of a issue then rather 1 at a time. Your right. Nerfing viking funeral redcued the usefullness of firebolt. Same happend with hammers. If they just fixed cautwrize the class would have been fine after that

Bungie does not care about balance. They want each subclass to be OP at certain times and keep the dance going so people swap subclasses and don't get bored with the small amount of content in game.

1 ReplyThey need to just rework the Sunsinger melee. Flame shield is the ONLY thing that's actually worth using. Angel of light is eh. Sunburst is laughable compared to extra radiance time or Viking funeral.

I believe the opposite of the community. Firebolt needed a nerf. Not viking funeral. They nerfed the firebolt but the change to viking funeral was too much

Nerfing the sunsinger is the best thing bungie could do. People always spammed firebolts even from across the map (ridiculous radius). They took a player out of combat for 20-30 seconds (depending on the amount of recovery). 1 shot from most weapons + a firebolt was a guaranteed kill. Cheapest grenade for trials. As for scorch it is still the best melee in the game it gives you a god damn overshield just for hitting someone and dont forget that warlocks have the longest melee range even without a charged melee.

Flameshield is fine. You literally get a shield for touching me with your ridiculous melee range while my T-rex arms flail uselessly at your face.

Firebolts are also the easiest to use. So now, instead of being one of the best grenades, it matches is effort of use.

4 RepliesI think the main problem with firebolt pre-nerf was that people were relying on the burn too much. Shoot someone a couple times, throw a firebolt then run away he's going to die. It was ridiculously easy. Now viking funeral adds a debuff to the target making [b]gunfire[/b] do more damage. The main idea here is to prime a target with firebolt then continue to fire at him for an easy but [i]you still need to work[/i] kill instead of the burn doing damage. This idea works for both pvp and pve. The [b].3 second[/b] delay for flame shield was to prevent sunsingers from winning [b]every[/b] melee battle in pvp.

Bungie has a history of nerfing the same thing in too many ways at once. They did the same thing with solar titans. They nerfed that super in every way possible when 1 or 2 of the nerfs would have been enough. Same thing with firebolt grenades. I agree that double burn was stupid, but they didn't need to touch the actual grenade itself.

I don't even play sunsinger and I felt they were a bit overboard. Instead of nerfing firebolts, they should have just stuck with the change to Viking funeral
