The good thing about sunsingers was firebolt grenades combined with burning. Now that they have been heavily nerfed and flame shield was also further nerfed, there's no reason to choose a sunsinger over any other subclass (except maybe trials for self revive). However, having a worse neutral game than all the other subclasses does not justify this. Even then, self rez its not useful very often because people usually control orbs with shotguns or sniper rifles.
As a warlock, i will now pick voidwalker or stormcaller for every mode. The best pvp class is now striker titan though.

2 RepliesThe only problem I have with the change is that the new debuff effect of Viking Funeral isn't useful in its current state. It needs to be at least 10% per stack, and last 5-7 seconds. A 5% defense debuff per stack that only lasts 2-3 seconds doesn't help anyone.

Honestly, the subclass as I used it for over a year is a shambles right now and I doubt Bungie intended that. Solar grenades are no longer viable in any scenario. When I think of sunsingers, I think of spamming solar grenades to control an area in either PvP or PvE. I now need to retool my game (and switch to ugly armor) to focus on nailing opponents with sticky grenades.

1 ReplyI run solar grenade and radiant skin generally...they -blam!-ed the class up. All they had to do was lower the burn damage like they did with thorn year one from 7 to 3.5, not a complete overhaul. Rather than doing something productive like making auto-aim optional and res sniping on trials NOT a one shot kill they made an entire subclass pointless.

Yup they've killed it sucks in PVP and PVE. Gunslinger is also pretty crappy now, I've noticed in PVP that people don't even bother evading tripmines or solar grenades just run through them. I never used the firebolts, I always ran fusions or solar nades. Throwing in the melee nerf finished off this subclass, it already had a crappy super. I'll just run voidwalker and Striker Titan now, was never a big hunter fan but I had fun running gunslinger with tripmines. I see my hunter being retired now. Going to see a lot of Voidwalkers, stormcallers and Strikers in PVP now. The only thing I'll use my sunsinger for is fusion grenades and spamming Tlaloc.

7 Replies2 things: 1. Remember bubble is a subclass 2. The fact that you had to rely on a grenade and 1 perk to be effective is pathetic. I do t run the mainstream sunsinger firebolt + viking funeral combo when i play and i do perfectly fine. Get over it.

80 RepliesI main a hunter and I agree. Sunsinger subclass is built based on grenades and melee with fast recharge ability. With Viking funeral nerfed it's pretty much useless. No point of using it. Every class is unique in their on way and in this case the sunsinger have nothing unique about them anymore except self res. Bump to revert the change back to April update!

6 RepliesI'm more upset about Viking funeral than Firebolt. Firebolt had a lot of range, but the Viking funeral change makes all of Sunsinger's grenades except fusion grenade suck. Before the patch, I used solar flares with Sunbreakers and Viking funeral to burn targets alive. Now they hardly take damage at all. The burn is too weak now.

Warlocks are the balanced class you can be kind of fast or you can be a tank or jug. I personally ran a jug build. Max armor, chest armor with extra armor perk, ram, taken sword with armor perk, flame shield, radiant skin, and the boolean gemini with extra armor. For me having max armor is the most important thing for the sunsinger do to low speed do to glide and super is just lobbing grenades around but if your team is shit and you get flanked or the person just walks through the grenades you get killed with maybe trading a kill.

I mean its very true sunsingers are bad at pvp now. Theyre only good at self res now. Even if you hate firebolts and u hate sunsingers . You still should see that the class is awful now dispite if you hate it or not. Secondly bungie might realize it was a bad nerf and fix it a little but it will never be how it use to be. Last Thing Any1 who loves their titan and Hunter should be able to relate of having their subclass nerfed and made into shit. Just keep in my how titans felt during sunbreaker nerf

Sunsinger has always been the weakest class. A team with firebolts was formidable. One of 3 with firebolts was a nuisance.

3 RepliesSunsinger super has always sucked. Fusion grenades are fantastic, Firebolts were OP and are now just great, and Solar grenades are good. Every melee except Flame shield was equivalently useless because Flame shield was the best melee in the game (Not counting Smoke grenade). Radiance should last longer. Radiance should either do more to increase teammates abilities, or it should drastically increase recovery.

It didn't get nerfed it was completly redesigned. 5% increase from other sources? Weak..i am not even sure yet how long the VF weaken effect lasts

7 RepliesIt's very disappointing. I always ran Sunsinger through IB since YR 1 Fusion nades, and burn effects were what made the class. Now I can spam fusion nades to increase damage? How is that any use in PvP? Just goes to show how LITTLE thought was put into those changes. This was done to placate Trials players, don't tell me otherwise. That and the changes to the Hunter trip mine and throwing knife were asinine at best.

2 RepliesIts kind of similar to the defender titan now. It can really shine in control I bet in Iron Banner it will be pretty sweet on control points. Solar Nades firebolts whatever to cause more damage it could heavily influence major choke points. Solar nades on Heavy? On revive orbs? It can really be very useful just not offensively.

The hunters are the quickest in the game so far,and they mostly whining about this. + the have far melee that other class doesn't have. They have more options with the Super mobility.

1 ReplyI agree but not for those reasons. I don't use fire bolt or flame shield so that didn't affect me at all. The DoT nerf from 7 to 2 really hurt solar grenades. They're pretty much useless in pvp. I ran radiant will instead of Viking funeral half the time so it should be like how it was without Viking funeral but it's not. They suck now. If they're going to nerf DoT then they need to make up for it with more grenade damage.
