How do you know when the right time and where to aim your shotgun to get a good kill? I am horrible with a shotgun and cannot for the life of me get the timing right to get off the shot.
I get killed by them more then any other gun in crusible. I'm thinking it might be my reflexes are not what they used to be.
Is there a particular crusible playlist that would help me hone my shotguns skills?

You pretty much just wing it. I mean it's a high risk high reward tactic. I use the typical fps stick layout where the melee button is the right thumb stick. I find it easier to pull off the melee combo that way. But anyway, try tossing grenades first. That'll get their shield down. Then you can finish them off at a somewhat extended range with your shotty. Or if you identify snipers, you can work your way in close for a challenge.

I will try all of them out and see how it goes. I have one shotgun with rangefinder and that's it. Now I know what to look for in a shotgun.

Stand across the map and equip universal remote

Don't charge them if they're aiming right at you. Back off and bait them to a place where you have a height advantage or around a corner. Get your sprint up and slide, or jump above them. The height difference plays havoc on radar. I can't really advise you on hitting your shots and aiming, but practice makes perfect.

Control sensitivity is important too. I use 6/7 before I would use 4 and I would constantly lose my shotgun fights especially when they blink over you

Edited by TheBakedPotato: 6/14/2016 4:57:58 PMGo into clash and practice getting close to your enemies. Change your subclass settings, know the points where players aren't looking directly In front of them. What's even more important is the gun. You are using. If you do t have a shotgun with good range you will have to be right on top of someone to kill them

any playlist but knowing how to get close to someone is an art :)

Go into rumble. You'll learn when to punce, trust me. Try using the slide for evasive maneuvers more than closing the gap, people usually expect it. Verticality is your best friend, jump shotting and high ground tends to determine many things. I recommend you try getting above your opponent more often

Make a beat out of it. Slide aim SHOOT, slide aim SHOOT, slide aim SHOOT! Just say that in your head a few times till you get the right speed, then when your rushing an enemy just think of that.
-
Simple aim, fire and BOOM off come their heads ;)

Always melee afterwards. After using a shotgun for so long I finally realise most of the time they don't die in one shot.

A long time back I got sick of being killed by them and figured if you can't beat them . . . join them. It took me quite a while but I figured it out. First of all you need a good shotgun with high impact and good range such as Party Crasher +1 or Conspiracy Theory-D. There are a lot of ways to use them timed rush, hide around corners or slide and shoot.

3 RepliesIm probably better than average with a shotgun so here are my tips: 1. Run a mid to long range primary if using a close range weapon like a shotgun. This way you can counter enemies from a distance if they're not close enough to shotgun 2. Know the map layout. You wanna stick to small enclosed areas like door ways and buildings and small walkways instead of open sniping areas. 3. I suggest you camp near doors or corners, players will just rush through them making them easy kills. You want to predict when they'll run in. when they do crouch there because instead of showing up on the radar you will instead be blinking on the radar; this Makes it harder to detect where you are. You can also jump high in the air when they run in and shoot from above.dont rush people from a mile away with a shotgun, this will make you an easy target to shoot down. 4. You need to time everything right and pay attention to all your surroundings. Make sure their are no openings for the enemy to shoot you. If they're are two to three enemies and youre the last alive, lure them into an enclosed area so that you will be able to take them out easily at close range. 5. Master the move where you slide and shotgun right after. You can slide up to 3 times while maintaining running speed; this allows you to slide into groups of enemies shotgunning them one by one and juking them all. Also if one shot doesn't finish them off just melee right after. 6. You want your guardian to have high agility rather than armor so you can move more quick. Classes I recommend are defender/striker titans, all warlock classes but mainly storm caller as you can finish them off with a melee ability that will get them from like 10 ft away and blade dancer/ shade stepping night stalker. Sorry if it's too much to read but I tried! Goodluck. Btw good game modes for shotgunning is 6v6. In most 3v3 you will havr to go up against camping snipers.

What next to a door and hide shoot anyone who comes out.

Edited by Nightstalker: 6/14/2016 1:34:09 PMI always run a mid range primary. Handcannon or pulse. If i can tell the ops are tunnel vision snipers. I mainly blink slide warrior them. If the ops mainly use primary, i will too. If a person gets to close, a reflex toggles and my triangle button gets auto-pressed. I then blast them. You also need to move accordingly. Cause doing the same thing over and over will get you killed(just like a nooby shoulder charger). The moment i see you adjusting to my slide, ill start blinking upwards. When you get used to that. Ill start blinking forward. Then ill go back, or start strafing and pivoting. Also. Utilize jump-shotting against other shotties or around corners. Works like a charm. Work your sensitivity to 10. It pays off. Learn how to play walls and corners(pm me for an explanation if you need more details). If you learn to play puppeteer then you'll be a toxic slider from tgi fridays.

1 ReplyThe keys to being a good shotgunner are this, -always be aware of the nearest doorway/corner in case you need to duck into cover, if your in the open with a shotgun, you got caught with your pants down -mobility is your best friend, never stop moving, the moment you do that's when you die. Use every movement possible and make it quick, blink Titan skate, focused burst/more control, anything to make you more mobile also slide slide slide. -learn when to bait and when to charge, it's obviously situational, but if you think you can rush someone, do it, if he begins to shoot you before you get the chance, bait him around a corner/through a door and blast him full of lead -learn the maps and stick to areas that play to your advantages, don't run in the middle of a field on widows court, stay by/in the houses or in any tighter space, also helps if you. Can figure out where the other team is spawning lol -learn how to flank, this helps especially with the new meta, it's easy to ambush snipers that stare down their sights all day - with your weapon of choice, it's all about stopping power, so max that range and that impact. - one very specific tip, the most effective way I've found to counter other shotgunners and other players in general is to stay airborne over a door, they'll never look up, and if they did they should already be dead by then

Complement your set eg long range primary and perks that help like shade step and juggernaut

Close range- aim down site Reason:conserves amo...but for some reason now my party crasher is missing shots left and right when they should be 1 shot kills Face to face- no scope Reason: you cand turn fast enough to shoot and kill apponent Half to 1/4 medium range: aim down site and shoot till enemy dies Reason: do to previous range nerfs, you cant just no scope and kill smeone at that range anymore so you need to aim. Sometimes takes like 2 shots
