That's the reason Bungie did what they did. The player base was declining so in order to pool more players together they dropped the old systems. #Truth

having the last Gen players move up will increase the player base on the current systems, and it probably needs to happen. I don't think there are even a million active players between all platforms any more. But I think cost vs profit is what probably really drove this decision.

Hmm but you can still play all the old stuff on PS3 only the new raid and new strike will only be available to next gen players.

Better theory is that they didn't spend money or resources on last gen after they saw the cost far outweighed profit potential.
