Edited by BrettLorette: 6/2/2017 11:53:04 PMSo, I decided to pledge oath to Dead Orbit, because of their ideology. People like to think that we are cowards, however they forget that we have a very large and growing fleet in which, the numbers are kept hidden from the vanguard. Arach Jalaal actually tried to warn the vanguard about the oncoming attacks by the Cabal in the mission, Outbound Signal. Also, according to the grimore cards the Dead Orbit fleet does not intend to abandon humanity at the tower, but rather they decide to turn their massive fleet heading past saturn around to come back and defend the remnants of the tower as they begin the evacuation efforts. Dead Orbit just wants to get the target (target being the traveler) off the backs to start building a new society. Darkness follows the traveler, not humanity its self. I not saying other factions are wrong, just narrow minded. -Brett Lorette

In the shortest most unbiased descriptions... New Monarchy holds Earth and our system as our right. They have fanatic ideals of electing a single ruler into power, of course with good intention, but that's not how it ever works out. Future War Cult sees war as an everlasting constant, no matter what we do, no matter where we go, we will have to fight. Because of this they choose to fight, and fight here. They keep secrets, which is likely why they stay, they scavenge the past to try to learn how to fight. They have fanatic views that even if there were a chance of peace that we wouldn't know how to live in that realm. Dead Orbit believes that our salvation is beyond our system. They want to play the odds, they understand not everyone will make it, but they want some of us to make it. They want to spread out across the stars so far that the Darkness will never be able to catch all of us. They stay currently as way to build their fleets. . No Faction is necessarily right or wrong. I personally side with Dead Orbit. If it were entirely open I'd take up a role with them, I'd lead a fleet beyond, fighting is inevitable, but survival will only happen if we fight fights we can win.

2 RepliesClosest is FWC. But they all have a good point. Dead Orbit is right in that we need to expand, New Monarchy is correct in thinking we need a strong, single leader, and FWC is correct that we need to strengthen ourself against the oncoming storm. If we manage to build our empire up to Golden Age levels, make allies out of the Fallen (and possibly the Cabal), and reawaken the Traveler, we might just stand a chance. Also, I nominate Cayde as king. Or Ulfric Stormcloak.

The FWC don't want to end the war, and so are fine with billions dying. DO are cowards, with baseless claims NM want to set up a stable society, so we can eliminate infighting and put all out efforts on the darkness.
-
3 RepliesDO are cowards who try to run. NM try to have a monarch here, which is a bad idea. FWC actually try to save our world from the darkness.
-
32 RepliesNew Monarchy - communist Dead Orbit - Socialist Future War Cult - Capitalism Pick your poison..... I'm going with FWC
-
Future War Cult. New Monarchy is corrupt as hell, and Dead Orbit would have us running indefinitely like the Fallen. Future War Cult wants to learn how to confront the situation.

None of them

They are all wrong. The history of the various races and the war suggests that the Darkness continues to spread so the idea of escaping the darkness (Dead Orbit) is actually just a delaying tactic. The Consensus (the current government of the City) has, because of Guardians, done more in the last two years against the Darkness then perhaps has ever been done before. Disbanding the Consensus and replacing it with a dictator (New Monarchy) is nothing back a step backwards. There is a war going on presently and if we do not survive it any future war is moot. Preparing for a future war based on myriad possible time stream visions (FWC) is a ludicrous response to the present threat the city faces. The Consensus as in the status quo is only successful because the guardians make it successful but fundamentally their battle strategy is incredibly flawed and is predicated on stalemate. Unfortunately stalemate is not the path to winning this war. The Dreadnaught for instance, we should be eradicate all of the hive, taken and cabal on that thing and then actually taking it over and using it against other races. It is a war machine that the Consensus is content to leave as a playable patrol area instead of the flagship of the earth war machine.

1 ReplyI've always liked the New Monarchy. I'm not saying what they're planning is "ideal", I just see it as a more realistic plan then Dead Orbit's. NM certainly isn't the free-loving Democracies of today, but when the world around you is literally falling apart, someone needs to take charge and establish order. Quite frankly, I can't see why NM and FWC can't work together. NM handles the "interior", the day-to-day operations of running a "State", and FWC handles all military planning and prepping for this upcoming war. Dead Orbit are just straight up cowards, in my eyes.

3 RepliesFwc is preparing for the inevitable war. The other two want to avoid it but its coming.

FWC because -blam!- you

Fwc. Think about it really. Go with NM. A bunch of bumbling politicians. By the time they finish disputing who should be our new dictator, the enemy will be right outside. They will turn our walls to rubble, and we would be capable of little more than surrender. And DO? HA HA, Those cowards. But I do respect them a bit more. They know they're weak. So they wish to run, but this will only delay the inevitable. Look how well that worked for the cabal. The only constant is war, guardians. Only the most ruthless survive. Those who decimate even the smallest glint of competition before it understands what has happened, or why it has transgressed. Some would say this is the power of darkness... I would say they are short sited. The vex have already won in other timelines/realities. Same with the others With our machine to see past the veil, with our knowledge, with our power; we can destroy our enemies. But running, or creating dictatorships won't have us win. Remember: For every dead yesterday, there waits a new dawn. With no promise of tomorrow. You must fight for it.

15 RepliesNot Dead Orbit because the Awoken tried to leave and we can see how that played out. Honestly Future War Cult is reasonable but they don't offer us any real info on their ideals other than "war is coming, and we will be prepared." New Monarchy seems like it's all about uniting everyone under a dictatorship. As much as I hate commies, no one shares enough of the same views for a democracy to work. It's probably best that the Vanguard stays in charge.
-
6 RepliesEverybody is saying that NM is a corrupt dictatorship. Uh, if you look at their to do list (the 7 tennants), the firdt few are abiut expanding humanity. Only the last one is about elecring a supreme leader
-
Well we're getting a new one so this is premature

3 RepliesI'm glad FWC has the best looking armor/colors and has the most interesting lore. The lore actually influenced my decision

Edited by Strix: 6/16/2016 3:44:30 AMDead Orbit because... I like their shaders.

1 ReplyFactions are like politicians. Nobody is right.
-
None, at least to my knowledge. I'd just stick to Vanguard if New Monarchy didn't have a nice Sniper.
-
Dead orbit has a fleet. The only fleet. If there is something coming they will be the first to know, the first to die but, more importantly the first to warn Earth.
-
Dead orbit since day one so i have an obvious bias. But realisticly i woul go to dead orbit and rank up enough to pick up a hung jury then stick to the war cult.
