The gauntlet switchblade perk: what does it actually do?

It says "decreases melee cooldown". Is that the amount of time it takes to charge the throwing knife, blink strike or smoke (similar to the STR stat) or the time between consecutive melee strikes within a single combat engagement?

  • Its how fast your melee is. But the way the state of pvp is currently, you'll both just trade kills. Useless perk for this game.

  • It makes it so that you can use your melee attack (charged or not) faster. So in a hand to hand combat two identical players punch each other at the same time. Next punch will kill. If one guardian is wearing the gloves with faster melee attack or faster melee cool down and the other is wearing gloves that throw grenades further, then the guardian with melee gloves will be able to melee again before the grenade gloves guardian. In other words you can punch faster and more often (no matter if your melee is charged) I always run these in pvp so that if someone gets in my face I can melee them twice before they can react.

  • It reduces the soft cooldown for melees. It means consecutive regular melees will be faster.

  • It the time to charge your special melee, not the time between consecutive normal melees (assuming that's what you meant.)
