I wanna try sniping. I'm fairly poor at it but I wanna practice. What's a good sniper to start with? Which of these three are the best to stick with?

Longbow with a good roll.

It's all based on rolls

I haven't had a Longbow Drop since the update but I've got a few LDRs, 1KYS, and Her Fury. As with any gun in Destiny it comes down to which ever one you're most comfortable with. For me, I keep going back to my Her Fury with Shortgaze, Hand-laid Stock and Outlaw. Not a 'god-roll' but feels right. I'm currently deciding whether to keep a 1KYS with Shortgaze, Last Resort, Perfect Balance and Hot Swap. Very situational weapon I think...

Statistically longbow if they all have the same roll but use whichever one feels better to you

Depends on the roll.

Longbow.

Edited by banksquiat91: 6/8/2016 10:09:47 PMLongbow for sure. I used ldr for ALL of HoW and thought it was gods gift to earth. Got 1kys in ttk and it without a doubt replaced my ldr. Now I have a longbow (didn't have 1 in year 1) but i would trade it for either. I don't have a y2 ldr yet but I've used someone else account that does.

It's all boils down to the scope/roll on the sniper. I've had all three snipers with okay rolls but, overall, the LDR just "feels" better IMO.

For pvp, it's the longbow, point and shoot, no aiming required. Love mine.

Efrideet's Spear Hit 452 on a headshot and has the lowest aim assist in the game I love it, still use it I have performance bonus and outlaw

Y'all for got about the year one IRON BANNER SNiPER😁

Praedyth's revenge will always be the best sniper in the game RIP Praedyth's year 1 you are missed

Edited by The Sword Logic: 6/7/2016 10:12:41 PMOnce we got them all back and I had three with the same scopes and very similar perks, I went down to the Divide to see which was really my favorite. I stood on one of the buildings and killed all the enemies with one gun and then switched to the next. I did this for like an hour at least. In the end, Longbow came out as my favorite. This was based 100% on "feel," and thats something that will be different for everyone (that's why there really is no "best" sniper/shotgun/scout/etc.). If you are a person who likes hard stats like me, maybe this chart will help: http://db.planetdestiny.com/items/weapons/special/sniper?sort=aim&desc=1

1 ReplyLDR is fun. I like the Extrasolar myself. Quicker fire but sacrifices some impact.
-
For base AA, Longbow. In general....well that depends on perks and scopes so any of those are fine.
-
Base stats, longbow marginally but all down to the perks and scopes.

Regardless of what gun you choose heres my tip for you and sniping.. The only tip I usually give out is for snipers. If you hard scope a lot...feather the left trigger (L2 I think on ps4). Learn to let off of the ADS long enough to see your radar and see the red blips. Greatly reduces sneak attacks and improves situational awareness. Practice flicking the trigger in matches

Y-09 Longbow Synthesis or the sexy LDR-5001

Whatever has QuickDraw

I don't care which is better, ldr feels the best to me.

In reality, it's whatever sniper you feel most comfortable with. Each one has different statistics, the three you asked about are practically the same gun, they just look different. I mean they have minor differences, but it's not going to be enough to make a difference. If I were you, I would try and get any sniper with good scopes and just practice that way. Perks shouldn't matter until after you are comfortable with sniping. I would say try using a low impact/high fire rate sniper to start with, that way you can get follow up shots easier. With that said, just use all the sniper you get until you find one you really like, then just practice with it. Because in the end, it's all about personal preference. Good luck, hope this helped in some way.

All depends on the roll
