Ive given up on PvP in this game. You either get try hards who need 2 other phantoms to win, lag that has you getting hit while the phantom isnt even near you or trash players who need a OHK weapon.
Only reason im even wasting my time with it is for achievements to get all spells. Otherwise i know how terrible the PvP is and wouldn't be bothering with it.

Souls series games have always had bad lag, framerate, and phantom range issues. It's pretty much the same for everyone, though. Things can be horribly unfair for an invader, but you are "invading" their world, after all. It can also be horribly unfair for those who get invaded as well - they aren't exactly prepared to fight you, they could be down to their last estus flask, they could be just testing out new weapons or something, they could be very limited on time and don't have the time to deal with you, they could have aggro on a hundred mobs that could easily kill them without you helping them out, the list goes on. I'd just say that's dark souls for ya and either adapt or not play it at all.

One Host with three phantoms and a blue/purple is painfully common. -Dark Sword and Estoc or go home. -Phantom range abuse. -What's poise? -Giant seeds. -Host has more Estus and HP. -Nice animations there...If you had any.

2 RepliesMake a gank spank build or a one shot build... Suddenly it's easy

Edited by JTAssassins: 6/9/2016 3:39:29 AMYou mean invasions are a joke not the pvp
-
I bet you use a straight sword or dark sword.
-
You can farm the items for covenants, they just have shit drop rates. I just did fight clubs behind Pontiff for PvP since invasions are always gonna be unfair for someone.
-
Try a fightclub
-
Summon if you want a duel. It's as easy as that. If you wanna invade you better just learn to parry
-
If you just want to duel then just drop a red sign? Invasions are pretty one sided sometimes.
-
I've been recently having quite a bit of success with gank spanks. Its really fun

Welcome to dark souls pvp. You must be new.

I didn't have internet when I played DS1/2 so I'm waiting for someone to pop in and ass -blam!- me now.
-
My friend, it's always been like this in souls games. It's half the beauty of it.

There are a few things you should take note of in PvP. 1. Expect 90% of invasions to have a host and at least one phantom. If you want to invade, you're gonna have to git gud at 2v1 or 3v1. Rarely, 4v1. In the end that skill will help you a lot, but it is very difficult to pull off a win (but it is a very rewarding feeling) If you want to duel, lay your red sign by the semi circle courtyard by pontiff. There are many hosts waiting to summon reds into fight clubs or duels. Or, be the host. 2. Latency. This is what allows you, or your opponent, to hit each other 10 meters away. Remember, they can only hit where you were. Therefore, you can run into the edges of people's swords, granted you can't have been in sword range half a second ago, or however long the delay is. This also means you have to be careful of believing that backing up or rolling out of their range is safe, it actually isn't. Unless they swung to slow, backing up itself will rarely save you, since you are right in front of them on their screen.

5 RepliesIs it a glitch or something where people will be able to swap weapons mid reposite so they can switch from a light weapon to a OHK one? Last night was the first time ive gotten hit with that BS.

I stopped playing the day I got ganked on a red soapstone summon. Hopefully one day the children will leave this game.

Maybe you should try dueling instead? Drop your red soapstone or summon dark spirits into a 1 vs 1 duel. The place right outside the Pontiff Sulyvahn boss, is the most populated area for duelers. Invasion matchmaking tend to prefer hosts with phantoms so chances are always high on invading a host with multiple phantoms.

3 RepliesSounds like an invasion. 1v1 red soap stone. I bet you still get rekt.

1 ReplyYou need to git gud
I'm sorry.
5 RepliesYeah they're -blam!-ing trash. The PvP is trash in general. I got invaded one time and the -blam!-er materialized 5 feet in front of me and killed me. I thought games these days could render things more than 5 -blam!-img feet away... I invaded someone and they had a butt buddy. They just sat there while i was out of magic and estus. It was so boring so i left. I invaded again and this guy summoned a dude and thanks to the lag I died. These servers are -blam!-ing shit for being dedicated servers. I've never seen so much lag on dedicated servers.
-
Honestly, I've always considered the Souls PVP in general as a joke. Lag and obscene phantom range has never been fun. (at least not for me anyway)
-
Sounds like you're invading. With how heavy everything is stacked against the invader it's reserved for people who can handle outnumbered fights. I'd recommended dueling if you want fair fights. Latency on the other hand is something you learn to understand. It's unavoidable in any game, I'm sure you've been shot rounding corners in Call of Duty. Souls may be a more noticeable amount of latency but that also means players that can handle it are much better.
