I just wish it was a pimary and worked like the real thing

I like it a lot for both. If you have a good enough legendary primary that you like, I'd roll with that as an exotic secondary.

It's amazing for PvE. It's seriously like having a heavy in your special slot. It does a -blam!- load of damage from even outside shotgun range, fires quickly, has a big magazine, and carries a ton of ammo. Even powerful majors will go down easily with it. It doesn't even have damage drop off. The "bullets" just disappear. The only drawback is bosses. Most have powerful melees, so it's usually not great for them unless you're super careful about it. But, it's still better than a shotgun. Edit: keep in mind the range stat is misleading. It has better range than any shotgun. It's not really a shotgun. It's more like a heavy, short range pulse rifle.

It's awesome in PvE. Good spread, solid rate of fire, great damage against Majors especially the ones with shields. Plus it has that added bit of recovery for your fireteam, although I've heard different things about whether that makes a big enough difference or not. Still, if I'm running with exotic secondaries, it's my go-to.

Decent but it's not better than a good legendary shotgun like party crasher for pvp

It is really good don't let the range stat fool you because it fires like a pulse rifle and has way more range than shown.
