1 ReplyIf you can use a shotgun the no back up.plans build is quite good
-
Absolutely.

Newly minted Defenders aren't the best in PvP, but by the time you are in the end game - they are quite viable.
-
This is all you need.

My buddy mains defender with universal and the vacancy, paired with no back up plans in trials. I do have to say, that he is a force to be reckoned with. Don't underestimate the lethality of a defender.
A little tip: Never self res inside of his bubble. Just take the loss
-
Control and Salvage, that bubble Can be the difference in a close match or it can lead to total domination with the right strategy.
-
If you are playing Control, yes they are. They are not if you are playing Clash.

1 ReplyYeah, it can be a fun class Need to practice with it though, it's the only defensive class so have to play a little differently It can be a painful experience learning how to use it I say take it into mayhem to get a feel for your bubble and the different perks it provides, weapons is a lot of fun snipers ohk to the body, fusions like Vacancy can do close to 70 damage per bolt, high impact scouts and hand cannons 2 shot Blessing is great for the team, soaks up a bunch of damage Armor is great for controlling a point in control or rift or the flag at the end of elimination rounds paired with a shotgun or sword and you're a statue, no one is moving you without using a super I say mayhem just because you'll get your bubble 4 or 5x a match and a feel for the suppressor grenades, a lot of practice on dealing with people trying to counter with their supers.., you'll get a feel for the edges of it and how to peak in and out quickly, use the edges, exactly where those edges are lol After that take it into 6s , then 3s In 6s if you run weapons or blessing it's good to drop it where your team can advance through it to get the perks, or on an objective Practice practice practice

Yes, we ran three defenders for this last trials map. People didn't know what to do against three bubbles honestly. And since we ran gift of the void, it just kept making more orbs for more bubbles. It was hilarious. We got to eight wins before getting squashed by sniping strikers with fists. The bubbles only real weakness. But it was super fun (pun intended) I would say not bad for our first time running three defenders in trials. With tweaking with some strategies we could easily go 9-0. So yeah, defender is viable for things like trials, especially in reviving teamates safely.

3 RepliesEdited by o Minimal: 6/8/2016 3:51:35 AM
Stuff like trials and iron banana
Iron Banner? Absolutely. Especially if it's Control. There are a bunch of loadouts that work (No Backup Plans + Universal Remote + Armor of Light being common) but you can mix it up. I like using Twilight Garrison to close the gap with a zone and drop Ward. Armamentarium is awesome for obvious reasons. Saint-14 is alright if people don't expect it. Lots of options. Trials? Harder to justify. I have definitely been to the Lighthouse using Defender (my main) but the Trials flow benefits more aggressive play. If you see a Gunslinger, Voidwalker, and/or Striker (two total) on the other team, forget it. You're gonna get your bubble popped too often. A team of Sunsingers? You'd still be better running Striker to stomp a res. Like I said-- hard to justify. If you do use Defender, it's best used with Weapons of Light, coordinated to give your entire team the buff, and go for the one shot sniper kills. As always playing Defender, you have to be aware of when opponents' supers are being used. Pop your Ward in a safe place after opponents use their supers, grab your buff, and go off. Best of luck. PvP Defenders are a rare breed but we're out there. EDIT: Something I forgot: A team of three Nightstalkers isn't uncommon in Trials. The Defender becomes much more viable in this scenario. The Hunters can do nothing to counter Ward and a suppressor grenade is deadly to counter their Wombo. Again, situational, but viable.

1 ReplyI enjoy using Universal remote Blessing of light No backup plans Supresser
-
Yes. Defender is my second favorite class to run and it they give me a reassuring feeling when they're on my team.
-
Bubble on B is always a hassle in control so yea at times
-
Defender Titan is the absolute GOD of Mayhem Rumble. All other game modes, you must be really smart to play defender as a lead role. Putting a bubble on Zone B isn't always the best way to use it. In fact, it's rarely ever the best way to use it.

4 RepliesIron banana yes. Trails. Nope
-
Yes. But only if you and at least two other Defenders camp on the objective with infite bubbles and reduce the match to a game of "Who can out-bore the enemy?"
