I'm A strong theist.
Raised as one, and honestly, it does make sense.
Look at it like this:
Let's say God either does or does not exist.
If he does exist, and you believe so, good job.
If he does but you don't believe so, get ready for punishment.
If he doesn't exist but you believe he does, no harm no foul.
If he doesn't exist and you believe he doesn't exist, nothing happens.
So, looking at it unbiased, believing yields better results, with a good and neutral outcome, as apposition to not believing, which has a bad and neutral outcome.
It just makes sense to believe.
But hey, we all know an Aethiest's opinion is unbreakable, so i'm really just wasting my time here.
Have a nice day.

Pascal's Wager is not faith. You will be rejected by God for not really believing.
-
Do you wear garlic in case vampires exist?
-
Well, the odds are that you picked the wrong god. Also I am pretty sure that if there was a god that faith as an insurance policy wouldn't fool it.
-
This is stupid. I'm not going to waste my time worshipping something in hopes of getting a reward and escaping punishment. Also, if "God" punishes me because I didn't believe in him, I don't think I want to go to heaven, since "God" is obviously a jerk.

Pascal's wager at it again
-
That's nasty, beleiving in a god because of the possibility of getting a reward and the ensurance of not being punished. You would be punished anyway since you're an interested prick. Just believe what's more logical to you, that's why "god gave you a brain", to use it. You would not be punished if you don't believe in god because you have reasons to do so and not just because of being an asshole that doesn't give a -blam!- about nothing and just thinks what looks more convenient to him (wich is exactly the "atheist version" of what you are).

I see this argument a lot and it doesn't really work. You can't just believe something because you want to be rewarded. That's not how belief works.
