Best pulse rifle for pvp
What type of pulse rifle is best for pvp? I currently use medium rate of fire, nirwens mercy, the villainy. But is high rate of fire or low rate of fire better?
It seems like with a low rate of fire if you miss a burst your going to get punished but all 3 types are a 3 burst kill.
Thank you to everyone for your comments. Seems like I may have to re think my choice of pulse rifle.

1 ReplyI have the best luck with mid-high to high rate. So Herja, Hawksaw, Grasp of Malok, Oversoul Edict and such usually serve me well and are forgiving. (Can't speak for the Suros rifles, but they look good on paper.) Low ROF rifles are deadly in the right hands, but will reward you with your own death if you miss a burst. ;-) For PVE I favor the low ROF pulse rifles. A Lyudmila was my highest light primary for a long time, it saw me through some tough times!

Edited by Prof Sheitbag: 6/7/2016 10:32:16 PMBack in September when TTK dropped, my first crucible package was a Hawksaw with Hidden Hand, Fitted Stock and Rifled Barrel. I can cross map with barely any kick, and the gun turns everyone into bobble heads. I got a PDX-45 with HCR's, Hidden Hand and Rifled Barrel, and the poor gun still doesn't have the range my Hawksaw does. The HCR's really do nothing for me either: crits still do the same dmg, and the TTK is still roughly the same. The only difference is the dmg falloff at range is significant - so much so I stopped using it and went back to my Hawksaw. I also started a new toon for kicks just to f*ck around with in PvP - been using a PSI UMBRA III uncommon PR with rangefinder. Having a blast with it, too ;-). I love how ppl seem to think you need a certain gun to get anywhere in PvP.

Everyone says high rate of fire beats all....that's a panic situation at best. I've never had issue killing against any gun archetype with my red death. With the travel of the barrel learn to aim chest high and you won't miss.

4 RepliesAfter trying everything, I still prefer the one on my titan. Spare Change Counter balance Perfect balance Feeding freenzy Would prefer more stability in middle slot, but I still am able to get a 2 burst kill or so every game. The range is phenomenal.

Edited by jnikoley: 6/6/2016 11:57:11 PMBased purely on fastest Time to Kill (TtK), the faster Rate of Fire (RoF), the better. Among Y2 (335) pulse rifles, Grasp of Malok has the fastest RoF/TtK. TtK for GoM is .8 seconds. Hawksaw/PDX-45 type pulses are the next fastest RoF with a TtK of .87 seconds. The slowest firing/highest impact pulses like spare change can rarely two burst an underarmored/low light guardian for a slightly faster TtK, but if you miss a headshot, they kill too slowly, and you'll lose to a faster firing pulse.
