Is an exo able to feel pain? They are able to experience emotions, but what about touch?
-
Exos are NOT frames. Some of you need to brush up on your lore. If I was exo, I'd be pretty offended at some of these comments.
-
Of course they do. Their survival depends on it. IRL, there are people born without the ability to feel pain. Almost all of them die before 25.
-
No, but they can feel pain so they know not to stick their hand in a thrall mouth. So they wouldn't feel pain, but they would feel something if they are sticking their hand in a thralls mouth
-
Their wet dreams consist of motor oil.

Given most other sci-fi we are supposed to except I would say yes. I'm assuming they don't feel pain exactly like us, but rather have some sort of equivalent sensory design. Think about it. We think of pain as bad, right? But our nerve endings are actually necessary, or pain is good. Pain is like our body's way of saying "Um, this activity isn't good for the well being of your body dumbass." Such as burning your hand on a stove or slicing your hand open with a box cutter. If we couldn't feel that shit, imagine how broken up our bodies would be? It's basically an alarm system that lets you know you are being damaged and at risk of injury, possibly fatal. The exception that I'm sure someone will point out is the burn you feel in the gym. But that's not exactly the same kind of "pain". And actually, if you push too damn far in the gym, the sense of pain still helps you know you're hurting yourself. You want to feel a burn, not a tear. Not a broken bone. So pain still functions as necessary. Read back over this but fill in the blanks with "Damage Sensory System" and "Overburden Parameters" for pain and injury. It sounds just like an Exo. I mean, a non feeling bot seems invincible, right? But would you not want them to feel? If they couldn't feel when their legs were broken, wouldn't they be all gimped up all the time? You want your Exo to stay fit. You don't want to see them doing dumb shit and breaking in half or getting fried by electrical shock all the time because they have no incentive not to right? Logically, mankind also has a fetish for creating things in their image anyway. Otherwise, why the hell give an Exo a mouth? Is it necessary? Wouldn't a small speaker work just as good?

My Titan female Exo screams when she dies. Pain protocol initiated.
-
The question is, can they feel salty
-
Can you feel pain?
-
They're hunks of metal, no nerves are within them. More than likely no, but they might have some touch-sensor that allows them to feel so they know when to leave as to not die.

No, they simulate pain and emotions.
-
1 ReplyThey are sentient, emotional, imperfect, just like a human or awoken. But because they are mechanical they don't have nerve endings. I feel like they feel the exo EQUIVALENT of "pain," which would be damage messages, fatal system shutdowns, and catastrophic CPU errors at near-instant speeds. It causes fear, anguish, and trauma to their mechanical nervous systems. Hence the yelling - they are thrust into acknowledging their mortality in the blink of an eye and they react as a human would.

My exo titan feels pain all the time, so I'd say yes.

5 RepliesPain is an organic weakness.
-
3 RepliesIf your talking about physical pain, I don't think so. But if your talking about emotional pain, they probably do. Like when they are like me and get rejected by every single girl in the city...
-
"Let me ask you, does a machine like yourself ever experience (Pain)?!"
-
5 RepliesThey don't have souls and are made of metal, not blood veins. Therefore they can't feel pain.
-
1 ReplyPain is a useful sense to have
-
I think they can breathe too. Why do they have to wear helmets like all the other classes? And if they have to breathe, why not feel pain?
-
1 ReplyFor some reason
*cough plot cough*
Entertainment franchises always make it so that the robots have pain receptors. Even though... well... PAIN SUCKS!
-
2 RepliesI think they can because I hear the scream of an exo when I kill it.
Or when I die.. happens lot..
Data is recorded for my injuries, that data can be called pain.

8 RepliesYes because when I'm on my Titan and I get sniped in midair, I hear a very nasty "ugh!"

9 RepliesPlot twist: Everyone in Destiny is an Exo. The Institute has been abducting everyone and replacing them with Exos! Wait, wrong game, nvm.
