Seriously though, why is SLIDING even a thing?
Why do we have the ability to slide? What's the actual practical purpose? There is no use for it whatsoever in PvE. So why does it exist in this game, or any game for that matter?

Because it's useful in pve. Just because it has no use for you doesn't mean it doesn't have use.

Sliding is a major component in pvp. Slide sniping takes a master but if you are the master just slide into a hard scope and snipe them. Shotgunners need sliding to close gaps between them and their opponent. Since shotguns have a poor range this is why bungie keeps sliding in the game even thought it can be tuff to play against players who have mastered how to slide shotgun and snipe.

I use it all the time on minotaurs and shotgun. works like a charm. especially when they put up a shield.

Pretty sure you can turn quicker with sliding when you're at really low sensitivity.

I think Bungie added it just to piss off any player over 11 years old. They even added weapons and armor that makes you slide further....

It's just another movement ability in this game. This game isn't just a twitch shooter there is a time to kill on most weapons and movement and abilities really separate the skilled and the average player

Makes you a smaller target ar the speed of running without needing crouch to slow you down. Any good player can tell you it has a large amount of benifits.

Seriously? Sliding makes you a smaller target if you are running away. So you will get hit less by adds. Might save your life.

A little known fact: In addition to activision, Bungie entered a marketing partnership with Slip'n'Slide. [spoiler]Of course, the reason that such a fact is not widely known may be because it is false.[/spoiler] But seriously; I can only assume that it was an ability that was added in order to make the combat feel more fast paced and action-oriented.
