There is a lot of good rap out there. Yet people still seem to hate it. So to those people I ask why do you hate rap?

-
1 ReplyI'm all about the beats. Any track produced by nujabes or j dilla. Unfortunately RIP to them both

Edited by Lordsa Jar-Jar: 6/1/2016 8:49:50 AMTo be honest there isn't many good songs out there, period. Regardless of the genre, you're going to have to pick and choose. Yes, they are some real good rap songs, but most are shit. This can be said about most song types, though.
-
2 RepliesBecause it's terrible "music."
-
2 RepliesBecause trashy people blast it from their garbage cars like it's something to be proud of. You just get tiered of it. Like eating the same food every day. "Ugh! Not this again!" And most rap is just paramasturbatory egotism. Nobody cares about your experience at the club!
-
1 ReplyIt just doesn't appeal to me currently,I was in the same boat with country then my parents played it a lot and I actually enjoy the non stereotypical tractor song, maybe with enough exposure I'll like rap
-
12 RepliesIn my opinion, all of it is trash. No one has been able to show me any rap song that I thought was good.
-
1 ReplyI like older 90's to early 2000's rap. My favorite rap artist is LL Cool J. But modern rap doesn't appeal to me.

1 ReplyYour face is rap.

3 RepliesIt's a constant moan on how bad someone's upbringing was and it's background music is as bad as that poor persons upbringing, not for me
-
7 RepliesI dislike rap due to it being just someone talking with music in the background. I enjoy songs where people actually sing (except country). The other issue is that most rap either has vulgar lyrics or their speech is practically incomprehensible and it mostly just sounds like gibberish. It is that same reason I dislike many screamo metal bands.

1 ReplyEdited by The Cellar Door: 5/31/2016 9:35:12 PMThey don't understand it. The user base here is predominantly middle class, white, teenage males in highschool. The large majority of them spend a good amount of their time playing video games, which means a large majority of them are not very popular with their fellow classmates. This in turn implies a couple things: The average user here is probably insecure, they dislike pop-culture because they are not apart of it, they are myopic, and they do not know the struggles of being impoverished. Now of course, not everyone here fits this generalization, and I'm sure some that do would not agree with the fact that they do, but after spending some time on this forum, I'm 100% confident in saying that the majority perfectly fits that description. So, these attributes will probably lead them in a direction which differs from rap/hip-hop because the genre was built upon and functions around the reception of the listener. When Future raps about partying on a bouncing, up-tempo beat, and someone who doesn't party listens to it, they'll have a hard time understanding the point of the music. Combine this with the fact that they're probably insecure, and since they can't relate to the art, they will consider it lesser than something they can relate to, and thus a music elitist is born. TL;DR: The dweeb who spends his Friday night jacking off to the lap dance in GTA V is not going to enjoy the music being played at the party he wasn't invited to.

Because of the bad rap
-
7 RepliesSo you're asking why this forum, which is a majority of anti-social white kids that love metal and rock with the exception of Eminem, don't like rap? Man I'm stumped as well
-
I'm a fan a of instruments which it as a genre lacks
-
Sounds like shit
-
I wouldn't say that I hate it personally but I don't listen to it because it doesn't do anything for me, it doesn't make me feel anything. I guess you could say I just don't connect with it.
-
1 ReplyVulgar lyrics for the most part. Most rap nowadays is about drugs, sex, money, and shooting people. Not to mention people blast it through their earphones when they listen to it.
-
Just not my style. It's tolerable, but I still can't find a liking to it
country on the other hand... hate it with a passion
-
4 RepliesI prefer it over country. Though, many people automatically assume that rap music is all about artists like Lil Wayne. He isn't a good rapper, and by far one of the worst ones, but then you have gems which do make rap (or at the base of it, hip hop) look pretty good, like Twenty One Pilots, or if we wanted to go a bit further back, Coolio. If we wanted to go a bit further back, we could say a group like the Sugarhill Gang was pretty good for a rap/hip hop group.
-
2 RepliesI agree, every genre has something good to offer, no matter how deep you have to dig!
Except country, fuck country
-
5 RepliesThey don't hate rap, they hate trap. They're just too ignorant to know the difference.
