Do heroic strikes. Try not to focus on getting drops right now, (but DO use Three of Coins), focus more on reputation. Get a faction (FWC, DO, NM). Do dailies and weeklies. Every time you rank up a faction nowadays? They always give higher light lvl gear in their packages. Do the same thing with Veriks at the reef. He has bounties, be sure to pick them up. Play Prison of Elders and play Challenge of Elders. (Use three of coins). On top of drops, Veriks gives good rep packages. In challenge of elders, you get an armor package for reaching 30k points, and a weapon package for 90k. Do this. Play the crucible. Play it a lot (if you like PvP). Shaxx rep is the same as above. But there's also good drops from prolonged trips to the crucible, especially so if Iron Banner is in town (which I hear is cancelled this month). Use boosters. You'll be picking them up in various ways (they are triangles). They boost your rep to help get you those packages I spoke of above. So if you know you're planning on playing several runs of the Prison, pop a booster. It'll affect you AND your fireteam. Got any spare materials? Motes? Armor Materials? Heavy synth? Take them and make mass donations to your faction. They will level you up fairly quickly. Raid. Dedicate some time to it and find a raid team. Raid=drops. Start with normal to get into the flow and understand the mechanics. Then blow the roof off of hard. You can get drops from these once a week each (I think). This is kinda the method right now. If this doesn't help, you're doing it wrong.
