Assuming the leaked DLC is true...
I think it's likely that our Guardian will somehow time travel back to the Twilight Gap era and witness the rise of the Iron Lords for ourselves.
This allows Bungie to incorporate a Fallen raid back when they would still be a credible threat to the City. It also allows us to finally get a glimpse of some of the action that, thus far, has only been in the lore.
Something to keep in mind: under currently established time travel "rules" in Destiny, outside of the VoG, it doesn't appear to be possible to change the past. The way it happened is the way it always happened. Which would mean, our guardian would be the real reason why the City survived Twilight Gap (mindblown.gif).
Feel free to shred me apart, now.
Edit: in Vex 4, Sundaresh wonders whether or not you could take things through time that you needed? And what was created around Twilight Gap? Year 3 Gjallarhorn confirmed!! Also, there's a rare Hunter cloak called "The Ishtar Dilemma," which has flavor text along the line of, "Never did answer Sundaresh's question, did we?" This was her question. I think we're gonna learn the answer.
Edit 2: Oh look, some support for the time travel theory. For whatever it's worth, I wrote this topic 05/20/16.

OPENING CINEMATIC TRAILER *Lord Saladin approaches your guardian* "Hello guardian. Please follow me" *Walks over to a new part of the tower. The door by the speaker. You see all the remaining Iron Lords.* (Pick your favorite) Lord Saladin: "Guardian.... We need you. To save us." *Awesome music and gameplay of (hopefully) new classes/ subclasses* *Cinematic of new raid boss being a douche* Nolandbot: "What do you mean? Who is threatening us now?" Lord Saladin/surviving Iron Lord: "It's not who is threatening us now. It's who used to threaten us." *Your guardian looking puzzled* *Ikora, Cayde, Zavala, and the Speaker come out of the corner* The Speaker: "Guardian we recognized you as soon as you landed. We've been waiting for you." Cayde (actually being serious): "Guardian. You are way more important to us than you can imagine." *EXPLOSIONS* The Speaker: "Guardian we need you more than ever before. There was a time when the biggest threat to humanity was fought at Twilight Gap. I believe you know of that great battle." *Some gameplay of the new DLC and a few crucible clips* (I mean it is bungie. They'll probably do some new crucible crap) The Speaker: "What you don't know guardian is that you were there. You helped Saint-14 and the Iron Lords defeat this foe." *Ends with more gameplay with a fade away on the raid boss.*

1 ReplyMaybe we will be pushing the remaining Fallen off our rock for good?
-
2 RepliesLol. More likely Saladin will be rebuilding the iron lords using us. That's the whole point of Iron Banner.

Edited by Diamond D Nice: 5/21/2016 11:58:06 PMHighly doubt it involves time travel. Highly doubt we will ever play old lore battles. Rather we will create new lore. That poster could simply relate to a new pvp weapon a new raid relic. Maybe the queen fell back to earth and is now held by the fallen in an abandoned old city and Saladin will guide us in her rescue. I don't know. I just don't see us re doing a battle that was part of the lore.
-
I doubt we travel in time, watch shaxx will be the Petra of ROI. :/

I forgot about gjallarhorn omg. After all this time of talking about twilight gap and mentioning the gjallarhorn, i didnt think once about it returning but this is a perfect time for it to make its return
-
I showed the Rise of Iron picture to my brother and he said exactly what you posted.

Un-Nerfed Solar Burn Gjallarhorn as the raid relic please!!!!!!!! XD

6 RepliesEdited by Joy Boy: 5/20/2016 7:11:05 PM-Skolas actually found a way to use the time travel and sent some Fallen back in time, to prevent the Gaurdians from winning the Battle of the Six Fronts -Gaurdians will team up with FCW to time travel and stop it. -We get to help the Iron Lords ...or even save them (For those who dont know, those IB weapons are named after Iron Lords).....Silimarrrrrr (in my Xur voice) -Gaurdians get to participate in the battle (Fellow users wanted this) Final Raid with a possible Eliksni house Leader or stick with me on this one, TWO (past and present) Eliksni leaders. - Add new Iron Lord Legendarys, Exotics. Possible Gjallarhorn return (nerfed to hell but returned) -Profit $$$ Just randomly tossing up theories.

5 RepliesThe same leak reported the raid was the same raid cut from HoW, so I'd imagine the raid would be related to the HoW story.
-
5 RepliesIf im not mistaken isnt the house of kings still a threat?
-
3 RepliesEdited by DMGRGN: 5/20/2016 10:26:31 PMIt won't happen. You're hyping yourself up for a lot of disappointment.

I love this! Bring back the Gjally in all of its former glory!
-
im not willing to speculate on the assumed leakage of DLC material as it could be from when destiny had a story, you know from the time pre release when wewere fed all of those lies.

where is the maple syrup

3 RepliesIf we are to get a fallen raid then that'll be dope. So sick of the hive now
-
2 RepliesSaladin goes rogue and starts murdering guardians for using thorn. His first step is to unleash wolves on the city and tear down the wall to outsiders with a giant flaming axe.
-
I'm guessing a final all-out assault is launched on the Fallen, with the goal of liberating earth from their control. Which is more likely the raid. Bungie probably wants to rap up the Fallen story before Destiny 2.

2 RepliesOr just maybe the Mysterious Exo Stranger comes back to whisk us away :D

3 RepliesI don't think we will be going back in time, moreso, we will likely be aiding or becoming the new Iron Lords. My guess is this. Saladin determines that an attack on the tower is imminent. He calls us to action, having us defend the walls. As we do so, the House of Kings attacks, and we fend them off, but not before they take a piece of the Traveler with them. Saladin proclaims that the Iron Lords must be renewed, and determines that we are the ones that must fill that roll. Story, story, story, couple if missions, and a final raid on the House of Kings, which is a revamped Skolas Raid. We defeat their Leader, done. Simple. No time travel, no magic bs. Just easy, forward time travel. Also, the Vex exist in all time, they don't travel through time. They can change things, but it creates alternate realities. Good theory, but it likely isn't time travel, saving people from the past, because that is a huge cop out, we can then just save the Traveler, Eris' Team, the Moon in General, pretty much everything. I don't think this will work.

2 RepliesGjallahorn was created AFTER the Twilight Gap. But everything else seem plausible.

To elaborate a little bit more actually on what @QCVic said, his idea on teaming up with FWC to use the machine to go back in time could prove to be an advantage actually. Seeing that the Kell of House Kings is still evading us, this could be an opportunity for us (the Guardians) added by the Iron Lords and Wolves to acutally put a stop to House of Kings for good. I've always theorized that the House of Kings is, at this point, still the most established House of the Eliksni and our biggest threat. I have no doubt, that since we didn't get to them in the past, that if given the opportunity in the future they would be the ones to lead any kind of assault on the City again. An event like this with us going back in time could also result on the Iron Lords staying together and not fighting amongst themselves. But, this would also result in the Iron Wolves no longer existing for their own reasoning.
-
The fallen house of Kings is the last house still fairly undamaged by us

1 ReplyIt all seems possible. Seeing the Wolves did figure out how to tap into and use Vex Tech couldn't the Wolves travel back in time to the time before Twilight gap to increase their numbers, etc (The whole time travel thing could lead to a lot more possibilities that could screw with a lot of the past as well)? We would possibly also tap into vex tech and go after the wolves who traveled through time. Saladin, old or new, may even supply us with gear before we travel back or even when we are in the past, thus getting the battle axe, titan cloak and a Gjallarhorn. We could even see Osiris, Saint-14, and Toland. This is all just speculation on my part.

3 RepliesI thought this thread was going to about Doctor Who. I'm really disappointed.
