I feel like there's deeper motives behind them cancelling events.
Isn't there some new games coming out this week? I'm sure a lot of players will be playing these games and then bungie will lure them back in a week with banner and trials.

I doubt bungie will lure many people back with pvp since most of the games coming out soon have actual good pvp.

Overwatch is coming out on Tuesday. Maybe lots of bungie employees preordered overwatch and they used the clown cartridge/cocoon exploit as to have a "week off".
