The Russian actions violated the terms of a bilateral agreement signed during the Cold War in 1972 by then Navy Secretary John Warner and Soviet Admiral Sergei Gorshkov. The pact prohibits "simulated attacks against aircraft or ships, performing aerobatics or dropping hazardous objects near them." The two military superpowers drew up the agreement after a "series of close calls."

2 RepliesThis is kind of old news bud... But I heard that we usto to this all the time to them. and tbh it was good defensive practice for our men. Also its nothing to be to worried about. we (NATO) have air superiority, with the f-22/eurofighter/f-18/f-35 ext. over Russia, so if they want to f around with their jets, we have the power to take them right out of the sky. The only thing that might have a small chance would be the su-35, but that still doesn't match up against our war birds.

77 RepliesIf America does it, it's okay. If Russia does, EVERYONE LOSES THEIR MINDS. Funny how America is always on high alert when they are the country that has invaded over 70 countries since 1776. I am sorry that my country, Russia has put their country too close to your bases.

Russia is literally -blam!-ing with them right now, saying to the Americans "fire, I dare you"

23 RepliesI'm sure President Trump would react in a measured manner if this occurred under his watch, and in no way would he be aggressive toward Russia and start WWIII

American warships put treaty in doubt by going to far into Russian waters.
-
But were they rushian past the warship
;]
-
Those ships went too far in to russian water and recieved the same treatment any nation would display when a foreign battle ready warship entered their waters
-
Didn't they do that to Poland military units training with the US Navy also as a kind of "you're next" gesture? Lol

Next time the US should just have shot them down. If the world was going to go to war over one less jet. Turkey would have been nuked by now. What's happening here is actually a bad sign of US/Russian relations though. When ever tensions are high, and there is a probability of going to war Airforces start buzzing each other. It's been going on since the 50's. When they buzz each other, they're testing out the opposing forces reaction times and counter measurements. They most likely were not measuring how close or if they could attack a ship, but how fast the US could launch air support to intercept them in that area. And the whole "But if the US did it" argument is stupid. As Russia has tried/has shot down US fighter planes that have crossed it's airspace in the past. They even shot down a Korean passenger jet back in the 80's that accidentally got lost. There's ballistic missiles in France, England and in many other places in Europe. Russia is just upset with these new missile systems, as it makes these country's harder to invade.
