Is it inappropriate for a news reporter to expose her shoulders?

Yes, that's too much skin for the news.

No, I think it's fine.

Liberte Chan was recently handed a jacket while reporting the weather in what can be considered a "cocktail" dress. An off-screen man handed her something to "cover up" with after the news station began receiving complaints about Ms. Chan's attire. What do you all think? Were these complaints warranted? Or was she perfectly fine in her original clothing? My personal opinion: This is a slippery slope. A few more incidents like this and our women won't be able to show anything but their eyes. LuckyCheetos brings up an excellent point: Would the public response be the same if a man had reported the news in, perhaps, a tank top?

  • It would be quite scandalous for a lady to show her ankles, let alone reveal her bussom as far as the collar bone! Bare shoulder? Pornography!

      • Is it necessarily professional? No. Much like I'm not going to wear a tank top to a job interview. But it's certainly not a big enough deal to embarrass this woman on live television just doing her job.

        • The complaints were probably from other women who are out of shape and can't pull off a simple dress like that anymore.

Dress more professional at work, instead like you are going to a club. With that being said, im not offended by what she wore. Just, when you are in a public spotlight, you need to dress the part.

            • It's fine. If the news station wants to pander to their viewers, though, and have a stricter dress code that's perfectly fine as well. It is a bit ridiculous for them to make the change on air, though.

It makes no difference. So what if her shoulders are exposed?
Oh no! My 12 year-old got a boner from an attractive female like a normal human boy
Pffft, BS.

              • Its basically disrespectful to do something like that. What the hell is a shoulder going to do? I can go around with a wife beater but a chick can't wear a tank top without offending people? I think attire like that is just straight up irrelevant especially if she's just showing the weather

                • People are so sensitive about seeing things these days. A news broadcaster shows her shoulders, people become offended. Why? It's so irrational and cringey.
