Is there anything in the lore explaining why all of the soldiers of the reef are female? Anyone know anything about it?

2 RepliesQueen makes her soldiers entirely female. Gets demolished by a king.
Am I right fellas

I'll see my self out

If we're being honest she got beaten by a transgender cosmic horror from the deepest reaches of space who made a deal with a wish dragon to become super king big nuts.
4 RepliesBecause awoken males are fückboys, except Zavala, he didn't fit it, that's why he's in the Tower. XD Anyway, the awoken society in the reef is a matriarch society, but I myself wonder why you can't see a singular male there, besides Variks.

If the Awoken were the humans that escaped earth before the event that created the Awoken, maybe the women and children were sent on the first ships to escape earth, and that's why there are so many more women than men...idk

I thought her brother was a warrior?
-
Don't know, but its pretty hot.
-
Because if males were in charge the Reef would be nothing but hairmetal bands
-
Same as a bee.
-
Me and my friends were curious about that too I came up with a theory that the females guard the main territories and the males explore areas for data or are foot soldiers in the outer areas of the asteroid belt

Matriarchal society
-
Women empowerment!!!
-
Because it's a Matriarchy, vs a Patriarchy. That's why there's a queen and no king. And if warrior is a considered a position of power, then naturally women would primarily fill that roll.
-
Because it's a matriarchy.

Edited by Stormhawk118: 5/16/2016 3:51:50 PMI dont get why the queen makes all her soldiers female, but trusts one of her best units to her brother
O WATE, ITS BECAUSE SHE'S SEXIST AND SHOWS FAVORITISM AND WAS AN ISOLATIONIST REFUSING TO HELP THE LAST LEGITIMATE HOPE OF HUMANITY UNLESS SHE GOT SOMETHING OUT OF IT

"Hurrr awoken arent humans durrrr" yes they are, awoken are humans who have been exposed to the darkness, its their duty as much as the vanguard's to defend earth, imagine what the vanguard could do if the reef never existed and all of the queens forces were at the city's disposal
My theory for taken king:
The queen heavily underestimated the vanguard and wanted nothing to do with it until The Guardian made contact with the reef and proved the vanguard to be MUCH more powerful than she realised, a single guardian destroying a gate lord and the black garden, she sought to use the vanguard and be rid of them after the wolves' rebelled against her, only to be surprised again by the respect The Guardian gained with Petra and Variks, along with how successful The Guardian was in destroying the wolves' leadership and capturing Skolas, and the continued assistance the guardians and vanguard offered to the reef, which changed her outlook on what she should do about the darkness
3 RepliesImagine that the men were the ones perved on, groped and hit on everywhere. Oh what a terrible terrible thing....

Matriarch society probably. Probably why they are always causing trouble. In history there was a higher chance of a war starting when a Queen was in rule that a King.
-
The queen is lesbian, obviously. They use the men for procreation and keep them in a dungeon down below the treasure room. The guys that you see around are obviously gay as well.

Sexism

space amazons bro

1 Replywell duh . they go to war , approach battle , show tits, kill with impunity as males gawk. I know I'd die at least .
-
It's because the awoken are a society based around Women instead of men. A matriarchy system is in place because Mara Sov is(was) the queen.

Cause virgins!
