Recently I got a scout rifle with explosive rounds and outlaw, those are really nice perks.
However I noticed that with explosive rounds, only a few shots are actually precision kills that activate outlaw despite I can see the precision damage with yellow numbers.
Is that because of the explosion of the rounds?
Thank you

how explosive rounds work is that in total it does the same damage but it splits the damage in two, 75% impact damage and 25% explosive damage... explosive damage like all explosives are not conisidered precision...... so to cap it off when you shoot an enemy in the head the 75% impact damage must be enough to kill them to trigger Outlaw (or any other precision-based perks), as the explosive damage is calculated after...

2 RepliesYes. Ex rounds as interesting and utility they are. Are fit for doing group damage. The impact does damage then the AOE Explosion does. So if it's the Ex damage that does the damage that kills then yes it doesn't work. High Impact Scouts, Hand Cannons and Snipers are not affected by this as much. In general don't rely on Percicion perks unless the main impact damage is very high. Fun fact, damage increasing perks only affect the initial impact damage. Ps are you on the PS4? I wanna try and spur up a Tournament that the only rule is Explosive weapons and abilities only. I wanna do an infomercial essential on ExRounds to promote it.

I don't have any issues with my treads on my hunter.

2 RepliesMixing Firefly with Explosive rounds never work together, that is because the extra damage that explosive rounds gives off, throws off the firefly perk. With that final headshot, it's shows yellow because it is extra kill damage after the final blow has been dealt.

5 RepliesExplosive rounds deals more overall damage, but the precision damage procs first, and the explosion second. The problem is that explosive damage doesn't count as precision, and since it procs second, it usually gets the kill. That's what's throwing off outlaw. They really need to fix it so that either the precision damage procs second, or the explosive damage counts as precision of the initial shot was precision.

1 ReplyIt's because you can't proc with explosive rounds, explosive rounds spreads the damage to multiple enemies. That is why a lot of people don't like explosive rounds, it makes your shot on a single enemy weaker. Even if it's just one enemy and you hit him, some of damage gets deflected to the left and right of the enemy.
