I don't believe it does. I think Bungie said that originally Symbyote extended the duration to accommodate the extra shot. What was reduced was the extension to the existing duration. I've been meaning to test it, but I've been waiting for an Arachnid so I can do all three at once.

I've seen tests on here somewhere if I remember correctly it was 9 seconds to 7.. I'm also basing that on the idea that I remember a difference of two seconds rather than the final duration times. Idk if you really want to search the forums its there somewhere.
