The death of an era on Venus Patrol
Woah woah, now hold on a god damn golden minute...
Since when did they disable the Vex sync plates which open the Vault of Glass on patrol in Venus???!
Back in the day, there used to be nothing more heroic or chivalrous than spotting a group opening the gate and leaping gazelle like into the foray to put a few extra bullets into a purple bellied Praetorian
But now? Those shiny metal bastards are wandering around aimlessly, spawning without purpose.
Come rain or shine, whether a Guardian was present or not, they commanded those plates. Now Venus is a hollow shell of its former self.
I'm holding a silent memorial at Atheons front door, and firing a 7 shot Icebreaker salute.
DAMNIT.... OK WHO NERFED MY ICEBREAKER??!

22 RepliesI used to love helping out people on the plates. When the Spire had formed I'd give a wave. They'd wave back and enter the Vault. I'd think to myself, good luck, Guardians.

I hope the next Raid lets you access patrol. I remember doing 6 man Wolf Hubts during house of wolves. Was so much fun. Court of Oryx would've been a blast with a full 6 man team.

I thought this was like a unwritten rule. If you're patrolling venus and come across a fireteam attempting to open the vault, you always stop and help. Doesn't matter if they have six.

Something I wished for was that you could see people on patrol or whatever mission they were on when starting up crotas end (falling down into the pit would be so cool to watch as a kinderguardian and show some insight as to what's to come) Idk how it would work with court of oryx/kings fall...

I think the greater issue is the lack of people doing VoG. Although I never cared for that Crota's End and King's Fall take place in some kind of parallel dimension where no interlopers are allowed. The way the first section of King's Fall was designed kind of prevents it from integrating into Patrol though.

Yeah, I remember those days when you'd see someone or two at the gates hoping to find a VoG that was a man or two short and get an invite. Would invite those that were leveled accordingly....

2 RepliesThis is how I did my 1st VoG run, just doing patrols, thinking about how cool it would be to do a raid, since at the time I had no one to run them with. I knew what to do from watching videos, but never had the courage I guess to attempt one. I saw some guardians doing the spire, so I helped them, and got an invite. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but completing the raid from start to finish, created one of my most memorable gaming moments, and I will never forget it. I miss year 1.

Its still great when I pass by there and see kinderguardians trying to solo it, love to glitch my way into the door and wave at them

I love all the people who tried to solo, or do it with a fireteam between 2-3. I'd just laugh and sit there and lol.

I uses to love going there in the hope a struggling raid team was there for me to help. Made me feel like a proper hero.

6 RepliesI did that once during HoW when I took a scorch cannon from a captain and ran from the citadel to the sync plates without firing a shot. I saw a group of 5 trying to do the plates and 2 of their members were lower than the other 3. I'd say 3 33's and 2 30's maybe. I went to the plate with one person(who had just died), revived him, and helped out with that plates enemies. One scorch cannon shot per praetor for as long as I had it. We opened it a little after and they invited me to join them. They called me "scorch cannon guy" the whole way through lol

Its depressing.... I was in the area 15 minutes ago. When I first showed up, there was this one other random dude that already had the Vex plates forming the Spire, so I jumped in to help him. We actually formed the spire, but the vault wouldn't open! (I saved a pic to my ps4. I wish I knew how to put it up here) I hung around for a few minutes after he gave up and bailed and nothing would happen so I finally left too. They let us get that far and............. nothing. Sucks. :(

5 RepliesOne thing that always bugged me is how you couldn't see anyone building the bridge to start the Crota raid. Obviously there shouldn't be a way to actually get to them, but it would've been cool to see it happen when you're on patrol.

I remember the first time I did this... It was so cool. I didn't even know what I had stumbled upon at first (not having tried it) but I defended the middle plate and helped them get in. That was the first time I saw it open... one of my most memorable destiny moments.

1 ReplyJust a year 2 player here. Can't find anyone who knows or wants to do vog. Did it once and had such a great time. Still makes me sad they left their best content behind in year 1. My first run I got the vex. Used it to level my 3rd from 25 to 40 and oh boy what a great time

4 RepliesEdited by Cass: 5/10/2016 2:24:30 PMI was doing the Echo chamber strike the other day and when i spawned in, 5 guardians were attempting to open VoG. I jumped on the left sync plate myself and the other 5 covered the other plates. I ended up covering the Right Sync plate as well. after a little trial and error the Vault opened and i ruched up to the door to wave them off. I was invited in, but i had a fire team of randoms, probably reporting me for being unhelpful fighting through the strike. I hope the group I helped finished it EDIT the fact i typed the same words twice has now been removed

I used to grab a Pike over at the Ember Caves and then mow down Praetorians at the Vault for groups I'd find.

Always loved helping or being helped. That's what Destiny should ultimately be about.
