im so furious about this. id rather face mida last word hawkmoon then auto rifles. its a serious problem if your using a hand cannon. i am above average hand cannon user and can handle any weapon but for some reason auto rifles win out every time against hand cannons. can you beat a auto rifle user ? yes if you shoot first but if he is shooting you at the same time 99 percent of the time he wins out. this is why hand cannons need a buff and they need to get rid of phantom bullets. i have no problems killing any other type of weapon.
surely you hand cannon users must know what im taking about. its especially noticable with those high rate of fire auto rifles. i once killed a doctorine with my hand cannon when we where shooting at the same time but we traded kills and i had to try so hard to get him down.
everything else in pvp seems balanced to me except for this.
no matter how fast or slow you pull the trigger on a hand cannon if both you and that auto rifle user start firing at the same time the hand cannon loses 99 percent of the time.
anyone notice this or have any thoughts on this. i hate having to switch to a pulse rifle in matches to compete with auto rifle users. i want to use a hand cannon 90 percent of the time.
for me auto rifles are boring to use i have some good ones but dont want to use them there boring!!!
in rumble someone could test this out have a auto rifle user and hand cannon guy face each other and have them shoot at the same time and see who wins 100 percent of the time.
i will say i dont use last word so i dont know if this is the exception.
EDIT2: i dont think i use hand cannons any differently then others its just that i hate being killed by a auto rifle when i get killed by other guns it does not faze me. i have been using my hawkmoon and can take out autos. i think the hawkmoon is the best to combat autos like doctorine. but ill try more testing. still rng bullets need to be eliminated.
all people know how to do is insult and they dont read very carefully.

4 RepliesHonestly their fine as they are currently. They had their time to shine. Just increase ammo for pve and they're good.

It's a oversight in weapon class balance. HCs in general don't fit well in close range. So is a bad idea to range balance them for close to mid range. Now if they upped RoF on mid damage then maybe. But as is they should be mid range with flexibility to lean towards close or long depending on build.
-
3 RepliesPOST TRANSLATION: "I wreck every other weapon type, but high ROF autos beat me, that's not fair I should win every gunfight I'm ever in, buff my hand cannon until I can 1 shot everything" Dude... High ROF autos can get destroyed by alot of weapons, scouts at range, pulse in short-mid to mid range. Hand cannons like the last word can outgun high ROF autos. If you duck in and out of cover with your hand cannon you will destroy those autos.
-
Hand cannons are the only gun I'm effective with. I stay close to cover, and place my shots right.
-
hand cannon is hit first or else you need to disengage and re asses the situation before re engaging. I know what you mean withe firing second etc.. its def not a stand in the open and out fire the opponent.. you need to shoot from cover, duck and shoot type strategy.

5 RepliesI came back for the new update after not playing for a while. Used to be a hand canon user but I returned to Destiny to find my hand canons were now useless. I played pulse rifles for a while and then settled in to autorifles. The balance of the game changes constantly. In order to stay competitive, you have to adapt with the changes. I recommend switching to one of the updated Y1 autorifles like Grim Citizen III or Shadow Price if you can get your hands on them. The IB autorifle also isn't bad.

14 RepliesI stopped reading after you said you traded kills with a doctrine user when you both were shooting at the same time. I don't know about you, but I'm pretty sure that's the definition of balance.
-
15 RepliesYour clearly not above average only doctirine variants are good in there range but high samage are still garbage but i will say handcannons still need a accuracy buff
-
I do think there accuracy needs more tweaking
-
Hand cannon user- miss one shot you die Doctrine user- pre fire around the corner, miss 20 shots but hit 20 and shook their screen so much you lived
-
I think the problem is that hand cannons don't really have a niche anymore. They used to be super powerful mid range. Now they're meh at mid range and strong up close but you lose to autos and shottys. It's amazing.
-
1 ReplyI use to have the same problem, but you have to only engage people with handguns out of cover. The nice things about Handguns is you can pop out, shoot, go behind wall, pop out shoot , go behind wall again. You don't have to expose yourself the entire time.
-
Hand cannons are harder to use but stronger for 1v2 situations. Dont run straight at am aito rifle, enguage at optimal range, aim for the head, and win.
-
Yeah they need to remove phantom bullets.
-
Yes hand cannons need a buff or something. They definitely lack something. I love hand cannons but hardly ever use them, there's got to be something wrong with them.
-
Yeah it's tough because hand canons pretty much have the same effective range as autos. Hard to have a steady hand and place shots when you're getting hosed by the doctrine archetype. I've found that boosting the range stat is much more beneficial than boosting stability. So see if you have a high impact handcanon with some good range boosting perks.
-
Wow, all those percentages... You must have done a lot math to get those.
-
3 RepliesNot entirely true I almost exclusively hand cannons and the only issue I've found vs auto rifles is doctrine as close range Also have to go for range over stability for HC's as even with the high rof class you need to pace your shots to avoid creating a bigger bloom on the weapon ( which causes the rng shots ) Hand cannons unlike auto rifles take time to learn per type and per Individual gun Almost anyone can use doctrine successfully But not many can use a random legendary HC To the same success
-
1 ReplyIt depends, you said u have to try really hard to land shots? Believe me when I say it's equally as difficult for me to land shots on a hand cannon user if they land shots on me. (I use doctrine). When I'm spraying down someone I feel like I have to almost use my will to keep the gun pointed where I want it to be while I'm getting shot by some eyasluna (or something like that). I know from experience that if I dont keep my shots lined up and stray for a second I'll die cuz once I start getting hit multiple times it's over, the flinch is rediculous. In close encounters, the auto should win anyway so I don't see it as that big of a deal
-
Build for range instead of stability on A Hand Cannon. Most of the problem right there.
-
1 ReplyI outshoot most autos with my lord high fixer, to include doctrines. I don't vs tlw but if you see a good tlw user at close range your done anyway. That's when I switch to plan c :)
and trade :(
3 RepliesEdited by Hambo the Rat: 5/9/2016 4:22:43 PMShut it. You hand cannon users had your fun for eight months. At least they're still very viable. Try being a Suros Regime user after the DB nerf. It was hell on earth. Your glorified sidearms would've been pure garbage if Bungie were as heavy with the nerfhammer as they used to be. Be thankful you can still get kills. The only thing I will agree with you on is DOP. It's a little ridiculous. But don't sit here and whine about getting killed by auto rifles. They're where they need to be. You're hand cannon is supposed to be trumped by it. Autos are the counter to handcannons. Just as hand cannons are the counter to pulse, and pulses counter scouts, and scouts counter auto rifles. NOW SHUT YOUR FACE. YOUR POST IS ATTRACTING HUNTARDS.

Get something with high caliber rounds or explosive rounds. They can slightly even the fight for you. Don't get discourage from losing to a machine gun disguised as an auto rifle. There is a reason the Doctrine is so popular. Once you come to terms with that, it won't be so bad
-
I get some decent kills with Eyasluna and exploding rounds. Suck it up Nancy.

1 ReplyCry more.

It's all about range on hand cannons. I have two eyaslunas, one with small bore and the other with rifled barrel. I consistently hit more shots with the rifled barrel version than I do with the small bore version because of the added range. It is very noticeable to me at least. I tried using a devil you know I recently received with 0 range perks and I constantly have phantom bullets.
