There are weapons that damage almost as much as a ghorn does.

The exotic swords can reach massive damage as well as the touch of malice which is a God weapon imo. How come they aren't used too often in PVE?

  • You're mistaken. There are exotics that will do more damage than Gjallarhorn. Sleeper Simulant and Raze Lighter will both do more damage to a single target than Gjallarhorn was capable of, even pre-nerf.

    • Did you ever use gally in year 1 lol god these posts always make me laugh just stop with this crap because nothing compared to the gally like do you realise you didn't even have to aim that thing and it would just wipe everything out

      • Touch of Malice kills you for a lot of damage Raze-Lighter you have to go in melee range Gjallerhorn you have to aim.
Nothing is as good as Gjallerhorn
Malice is useless outside the raid. Exotic swords aren't used often because you have to get to melee range of boss and most bosses have stomps that will obliterate you.

          • Year 2 dragons breath. Pretty sure it does the damage of Ballerhorn if the enemy sits in the fire which a lot of them do.

          • You forgot the sleeper. I think it is the most under rated gun in the game. Hell I have every exotic minus the new sniper and I still use it all the time.

            • You are comparing a year 1 weapon with year 2 weapons. Ofcourse for damage the year 2 weapons are going to win. Just stop dude. You just went full retard.

              • Swords ask you to be very close, I'm not getting that close to a boss. ToM is slower and drains your health, what if I want to be a sunbreaker?

Well swords mean you have to be very close and ToM is nowhere near as quick. But both are used a lot more than ghorn now :)

                  • Ghorn was easy to use, it was fire and forget. However exotic swords force you to put yourself in the firing line giving you next to no protection and touch of malice drains your health, confining it to the two raid encounters. Ghorn was so good because it had the massive damage as well as no drawback, but the weapons you mentioned both give considerable disadvantages.

                    • Year1 when heavy was aplenty, GHorn was not the 'choice' for heavy in PVP. HMG will kill more because they could 'snipe' targets like a heavy auto rifle. That resulted in the 'heavy Nerf wave' you see now. Good players would bomb an area, great players would spray with HMG, excellent players kept their heavy drop all match and just killed with impunity. That's why a lot of us would 'deny heavy' to the enemy. That's why you see very few Heavy Ammo Drops today. It's not total damage, it's precision damage in PVP..

Ghorn before it got its mini nerf in Y1 will always be the gods choice TOM - great but it chews up your health really quick, its only truely effective with blessing of light. exotic swords are all great, Raze lighter especially in close and bolt caster is pretty good at range. I would say sleeper stimulant is the most heavy damage potential weapon currently. unless you can chain headshots with black spindle of course.

                        • Ghorn had a massive AoE damage. Also using raze lighter on certain bosses is risky and usually gets you killed. There is no risk with ghorn. Touch of malice is only effective when 3 people are using it paired with weapons of light and blessing of light. Still GHORN will remain King.
