If you look closely, the ammo counter appears to be attached by a tactical rail, do you think that in stealthy campaign missions it could be removed in order to stay stealthy, since a tiny glowing tv screen on your gun is a dead give away when under cover of darkness. this would just be a weapon skin for the AR you would have as a scondary to your sniper, nothing major. just an oddball asthetic change for a campaign mission or two, even then, its still a nice little detail to take note of.

older model of the AR, or a prototype. yes i think the halo 3 ar looks more fin than this one mayby bungie want ecactly tht
Posted by: A 3 Legged Goat don't know that for sure though; could be a digital scope
^^^^^ This Just like the Magnum has a Digital Scope on top of it but you cant actually look down it. Its electronically used through your Neural Interface.

I think it looks like its raised higher than the rest of the gun. Perhaps the new AR in Reach gets a zoom?
-
I also seem to recall them confirming Armor attachments, but absolutely NOTHING about weapon attachments. Besides, even if there were, wouldn't you think it would apply to ALL weapons? If that were the case, we would have seen similar things on DMR, Needle Rifle, Plasma Rifle/Pistol, and so on so forth.

I've never seen Master Chief have to stealthy throughout any of the Halo games, besides the odd assasination when an enemy's back is turned. This is Halo, not Splinter Cell.
-
I think you guys are taking this "stealth" thing to far , and are setting yourselves up for disappointment. It's one thing to sneak up on a standing-still A.I. covie guard, but that won't fly in MP, or for 99% of the campaign, Halo is all about Run n' Gun. not about tac rails and attachments
-
Or, it could just be part of the design. Seeing as how this was on Reach, I could imagine it being an older model of the AR, or a prototype. Regardless, It looks attached to me, not to mention all of the current screenshots show it attached.
Posted by: The Eagle23
Posted by: BattleRifle BR55 I think the sound of the bullets and the muzzle flashes are bigger give-aways, more than a blue light.
nononoononono.... what I mean is, youve got an AR on your back, your prone trying to make a tricky sniper shot, and covies see a little blue light in the distance... or your waiting to ambush a covie squad around a corner, but they see a little blue glow on the walls... its not practical to have a tv screen or your rifle if your trying to be stealthy.
It won't even be visible at that point, then. Besides, why keep it with you if you're never going to use it?

Yea I guess so. Or maybe just to give the AR a more advanced look. (weapon attachments and all...)
-
I think it would be useless.
