By now most of us have already found a character or two that we really enjoy the look of. With the beta only a day away (or 3 without a code), most players will likely pick their favorite character first.
However, I'm here today to tell you, do NOT get stuck using one character.
It's very easy to find one class you like and stick with it. But being the best tracer you can be isn't always the best option. Overwatch is not like other hero-based games like LoL. Overwatch has a delicate balance when it comes to its classes, and the best teams will be flexible in their playstles. Most importantly, overwatch allows you to switch between characters at any time, allowing you to adjust as the situation requires. If the enemy team has a brilliant defense that you can't seem to break with the 3 tracers on your team, try switching it up to zarya or winston. Find out what the enemy is doing and adjust to counter it.
Don't get stuck only knowing how to play widowmaker and failing when the enemy team knows how to counter you. Do not be a one trick pony. If possible, find at least one character of each archtype that you enjoy, as this will give you a huge advantage when it comes to adjusting to your team and opponents.
During this beta weekend, attempt to use every class at least once or twice, to get a good feel of the many dynamics that are in overwatch. Playing one class exceptionally well is good, but it is better to be able to synergize with your team than to do well solo. I look forward to healing all of you as mercy, putting you down as McRee, and dropping you beats as Lucio.
