Punishing for leaving PvP games.

I don't get it..... WHY does Bungie not simply add punishments for just leaving the game?! They did it in HALO as well. [spoiler]Not sure if this is true.[/spoiler] I just played another random game of Ironbanner, and people left the game when we were like 2 minutes into the game, because the enemy had the lead with 500+ points. Not going to lie: I had over 10 players in my team. In just ONE match. Because they just left. [i][b]Just add a timed punishment, like: you can't play Crucible anymore for 20 minutes. And when you keep leaving games, it stacks (20 Min. 40 Min. etc.[/b][/i] Now you could say: "There are people with bad connections, and they could get an error code." [b]My answer would be:[/b] They have a bad connection. I don't see any reason why we should support lagging players. No, seriously. Please do something against it.

    • If I join a game in progress, I leave. If my team is shit I leave. If I'm doing shit? I stay, because -blam!- my teammates not helping me do better.

    • Why so they can go afk instead? I say make a crucible streak like the vanguard one. Minimum of a couple games to start getting rewards lasting until you leave. Encourage people to stay instead.

    • Wouldn't work and it's because of the connection and error code state the game is in. Look at trials - so many flawless runs have been ruined by lag or false losses on cards. Then add a penalty for been booted? It would be the death of destiny for me. You have a red bar super star in god mode and then get server disconnected into a 20 minute "punishment" period? That's a triple whammy

      • What if you get called into work and have to leave? What if your dog has an accident in the house and you have to take him/her out real quick? What if you get kicked?not to be confused with shotty internet? What if your power goes out? What if your Xbox jus turns off or freezes? What if something more important and more fun comes up and you decide to say -blam!- it and leave? What if life happens and there is an emergency or there is somewhere you have to be immediately? What if you've played for 6 straight hours and you've had up to the sky with lag, losing and shitty team mates? This post is stupid and not thought out properly and if bungie hasn't done this already they won't do it at all because it only seems to be a problem in iron banner. The rest of the crucible doesn't seem to ever have this problem given that there is rarely an incentive to win in pub matches. Given that the whole entire point of Iron banner is to win, why would somebody stay in a game after spawning into a losing match? There is very little incentive to stay let alone playing a match and wasting 15 min on a match that is going to end up in a loss anyways and losses don't help you in iron banner. Perhaps your feedback should be that bungie should fix their damn matchmaking to where you only get placed in a fresh match instead of matchmaking into a game in progress. A simple matchmaking feature could fix this. A "quick matchmake" button to jump right into the action as fast as possible and a regular "matchmake" button that matchmakers you for a fresh game but might take a little longer to find players. The trade off is pretty simple. Spend less time matchmaking to get in quick or spend more time matchmaking for a better quality match. Punishing players that can't finish out or refuse to finish out a match is idiotic and shortsighted and given that this game is now pvp driven, they aren't going to piss off the people that are basically holding this game together and that's the pvp'ers.

        • My clan and I leave pvp because of blatant lag cheating and will continue to do so. We won't be punished for honourably getting away from the trash.

        • Normal crucible is just for bounties and three of coins other than that, their is no other benefit other than having something to do. It would be dumb to have punishments for this. Trials already has punishments when leaving mid game or even losing connection it would still count as a loss on the card. Iron Banner is not much different than normal crucible other than being able to farm for IB gear to level up which you get even if you lose

        • well the reason why most leave is dropping in a game mid progress usually means you're losing. now this isnt your fault. 99% of the time you have been shoe horned in regardless of if the ping is crazy or not. again not your fault. if they cant fix the connections and there isnt a reward for staying in games where the other team has smashed yours why should players stay. the lag in the game right now in this IB is literally the worst I have seen it. red bar ninjas who glitch around the map and wont take damage. why would i stay in a lobby that broken? damage referee is a myth!!!

        • The problem with this is it can be taken too far. What happens when people start asking for bans on people who under-perform? Say if you're team loses and you have less than a 1.0 KD, you are banned for 12 hours. If it happens again, 24 hours. And the third time, banned until weekly reset.

          • No, it's a game, punishing people for having lives is not how a game should operate. Some people have to leave for 3-5 mins, for sudden reasons, if they have to wait 15 mins after that, people will turn the game off. What moronic game company would force players out the door? This is not a competitive MoBA, it's a casual shoot em up multiplayer... The only game mode that deserves a penalty for leaving is trials, and it already exists.

              • ive been trying to make this point too for a while now.. the dumbest part of reporting quitters in-game is they are off your roster screen so you cant even report them... but out of all the pvp playlists, Rift suffers from the problem the worst, too many times one team scores twice and is up by almost 10,000, half the losing team is gone..... couple months ago i didnt even bother with the Rift Iron Banner after 3 straight matches of being thrown mid-game down 10,000 points and only 2 other teammates.... automatic restrictions cant be hard to do

              • Loose the loosing stance about about the "loosers" who leave IB matches. If I could try losely to explain, they loose out on the pool of weapons and gear losely attributed to the event. Bungie's lose connections have more to do with you loosing players on your IB squad than the players themselves being loosers. I say don't worry about it, let lose the dogs of war, and turn the other team into loosers!

                • Its IronBanner for gods sake. Win/Lose its all about the Bounties for me either way. They are handing out Gear like its Halloween Candy to anybody who stays in the Match. Leave/Stay no matter to me I'll be there doing my best.
