Didn't see if anyone had posted this topic yet, but does armor actually do much of anything besides maybe look cooler? I know armor has never really been all that huge a factor in previous souls games - hence fashion souls and people running around basically naked, swinging ginormous clubs. But yeah, I mean, so far I've tried bumping up vitality and wearing better armor, but I swear it seems like it isn't really doing squat, and the points spent on vitality might be better spent elsewhere - unless I'm missing something...

Unless you have something like Havel's or Smough's, there's a minimal change.

Anyone wanna play Halo Reach custom games? GT: tigrdonuts428

1 ReplyIt mattered in Dark Souls 2. I wish it still did. Vitality is pretty useless now.
-
1 ReplyArmour is for Fashion Souls, that's pretty much it.
-
Yes as each piece you equip has its own specific stats and add up.
-
3 RepliesYep it's useless. I'm full Havel and estoc still anals me. No poise in this game..
-
Well it's only cosmetic but isaac does have some badass looking suits.
-
1 ReplyEver hear of havel?

6 Repliesunless you want to suffocate in space. I suggest you keep that helmet and RIG on before stepping foot in Dead Space 3... jeez, some people just don't learn.
so many opportunities to reference dead space 3 when the title only puts DS3 instead of the actual game title...
Uhm, Noo... You still gotta preserve those fashion souls, even after being stomped.
-
Yes and no. In PvE, it matters little: just as an experiment in DS1, I let myself get hit with no armor. Then I put on a full set of elite knight armor and took the same hits, there was a 10%-15% reduction in damage. While it's not much, it can make the difference between life and death. In PvP, I think your armor does matter. My PvP experience is little, but having better armor improved my survivability.

I'm not sure But enemy armor drops And if you're smart You could wear that when your world is being invaded They won't fight an enemy So if you look and play the part They will have a hard time looking for you
-
I think I put this in another topic about this earlier as well.
-
This is Fashion Souls 3. Don't know what you expect.
-
For darksouls it a little difference unless your wearing something like Havel. It not like Bloodborne where armor has no effect what so ever
-
Mostly just go for what looks good/has best stats without going over your weight limit, but actually wearing nothing for an armor slot had a huge drop in defense, so wear anything, just not nothing
-
3 RepliesThe only think armor really does is increase defenses to certain types of damage. I.e. Fire bleed poison etc. Doesn't do much against physical damage
-
As the power armor.
-
...get elite advanced suit

1 ReplyI made a post about this awhile back but the only answers I got were that it was all about fashion so I'm glad too finally get answers as well.
-
1 ReplyI went from running around naked to using armor and it makes a difference. It's not massive, but it's enough to make or break the run to the next bonfire. Noticed it more on boss fights than anything else.
-
1 ReplyPoise does exsist but you need the big guns. One of my top 5 Pvp builds in SOTFS was powerstanced battle axes. I would purposefully trade blows but they would stagger. I would not. I've 2 shot people will those dark battle axes. Armor is a evolution thing. The first 2 I would Havel. But as I got better I wanted to maximize my damage because bosses get really tanky higher NGs. I shaved off armor little by little. Now I'm at lothric princes in conjuror set (pyromancer). I would have won but the update booted me :(

4 RepliesArmor definitely reduces overall damage taken, and the elemental resistances are very apparent. The only issue is that poise is all but non-existent in the game. It doesn't matter if you are wearing sorcerers robes or havel's set, you can still be easily knocked around by just about any weapon. I think poise might now effect your recover time from this, but I'm not sure. Unless you use an item or skill that increases poise, it makes almost no difference.
-
8 RepliesHaving higher poise means you have less of a chance of being staggered or stun locked, thus giving you a chance to drink the life giving drink, estus. Armor makes you tank more as well.
-
I usally only switch armor if im having a hard time somewhere. Say if im in an area with a lot of fire or magic or curse i will put on whatever armor has the highest absorption for it. It does help but its not a guarantee easy button.

Greatly reduces the damage you take. Can easily see the difference hitting a dragon bro over someone wearing a legit armor set.
