Shooting them in the belly isn't as strikingly obvious as everyone is saying... The eye in the middle of their head glows too! And it looks like a target. I was fortunate to have good buds to tell me to shoot the white stuff back in TBD.

I get it, all I am saying is that the red light in the middle of their face looks like a crit spot as well. Everyone finds out sooner or later that it's the belly. There's always the occasional asshole who lets everyone know that they knew it all along. I bet 99% of people shot the red thinking it should crit. It didn't and people figured it out. There were plenty of vex to kill before players reached said cutscene.
