"Jorge" is not pronounced "George"
Am I the only one a little confused by the fact that Jorge, an obviously Hispanic name, has been so blatantly mispronounced? Jorge comes from an apparently Hispanic city or area of Reach (the city Pálháza), and it makes no sense at all that Carter calls him "George." Do you think that this was an error in the trailer, and it will be pronounced correctly in the game, or that Bungie plans to permanently have a bizarre Anglicized variant of the name Jorge used throughout?

jorge IS pronounced as Horé (Hispanic), but well in the future, things can change, as well as how British people will name their countries (regions) with Hispanic names [Edited on 01.31.2010 4:59 PM PST]

The German translation to George is Georg, which is pronounced similar to Ge - ork. The G like in "go". The e like in...uhm...I can't think of any English words that have that e sound. It's similar to the ending sound of the French word "touché" :-)

Jorge is pronounced just like "George" in English. Just like Los Angeles is pronounced "Lahs anj ull es" in English, and not "Lohs an hel es" like the language it is derived from. /end

It would suck even worse if you told your team to give you covering fire and you got shot to death because they couldn't understand you. Having a universal language for ease of communication is VITAL. Why English and not some other made up language? Because.

There is more that one way to say a name. "Jorge" is in fact pronounced "George", since Bungie says that's how you say this [u]particular character's name[/u]. Plus, canon wise, it's 500 years from now, and you think they haven't been able to change the rules of a language?

Jorge is a spanish name, my brother is called Jorge, it is pronounnced "Horhe".
