Pyromancy is best mancy.

Die a shield turtle or live long enough to see yourself roll around with no shield.

Don't be a Havel mage. That is all.

I'm still on the fence about this game. Can't decide to buy it or not. I think the main thing stopping me is the fact I only got cash, and no visa, and so lazy to leave the house to get it.

Despite what the poster below me says definitely play online if you're able to do so. I'm clocking a hundred hours of gameplay and invasions have been minimal. The few times it has happened it's been intense. Nothing gets the heart pumping or the blood flowing like an invasion. It's a major part of the experience. Other than that just play smart and carefully. Patience is key. Especially if you're facing a new or unknown enemy. Also DO NOT hoard your souls. Nine times out of ten that's when you'll lose them all. It's better to spend them on levels/items than lose them to the abyss. Oh and prepare to die. A lot.

Don't do stupid shit to get yourself killed. Dying to a boss is one thing but there is no need to put yourself into bad situations
-
Start as a knight and do either a quality build or strength build. Or dex. Don't go balls to the walls. Take your time when fighting anything and always explore!
-
Unless you actually hate yourself, don't pick the theif starting class. The tutorial boss slapped me silly about 30 times when I was a theif, and I played both 1 and 2.
-
If you accidentally mess up your build don't stress too much; you can respec later on.

You'll suck at first like me. And then over time you'll probably just suck a little less. Again, like me.

The best tip I can give is that you should learn stamina management. Always leave yourself with enough stamina to dodge away from an enemy once or twice after attacking them.
