So, on the Reach Project Page, under ordnance, we take a closer look at the MA37 Assault Rifle to be used in Halo Reach.
You can find it here.
In the description, it says, "The MA37 (MA5 for Marines and Navy)first entered service with the UNSC in 2437, it has remained the primary service rifle of all branches of the UNSC ever since."
Seeing as how it's being referred to as the MA37, even though it's known as the MA5 to the Marines and and Navy... I'm thinking we will see a lot larger influence from the UNSC Army.
Does this excite anyone else??
EDIT: Also, on the DMR page it mentions it has since been surpassed by the BR55 in all branches but the Army.
Posted by: Trap51b
Posted by: blue3232 \ I think it is the same weapon, because it doesn't give separate backgrounds for the MA37 and the MA5, only the one. This leads me to think that the MA37 was the original build of the MA5 assault rifle, with the MA5B and MA5C being variants, with the original still being used by Army.
*nods* I see. A bit like US army/marines right? First you guys use M16, then M4 which is based on M16 amirite?
I'm thinking so. And on the retconned statement, I'd say yeah, because the graphics of many aspects have been changed. Like the Marines, for example. and the Sniper Rifle. [Edited on 01.28.2010 4:43 PM PST]
Posted by: Trap51b Either MA5 is variant of MA37 (it is a bit different) or the text meant that the Marines and Navy use MA5, a different weapon... Damn English, too ambigious language... DMR replaces BR in Reach... it is clear. But since Reach has M6G pistol with scope, it is possible BR is replace by both DMR for longer range and Magnum for shorter range.
\ I think it is the same weapon, because it doesn't give separate backgrounds for the MA37 and the MA5, only the one.
Posted by: Fos Tis Krisis Oh ok, so the MA37 IS the MA5A, just for ARMY it is referred to as that. That clears everything up.
But MA5 looks a lot different. Has to be a variant at least. And don't cite the new graphics, too big difference, unless Bungie retconned the looks totally.
