It says that it was the 17 year old girl's idea to go to this 29 year old man's house party to share a bottle of vodka lol, I'm not going to immediately jump to victim blaming but you've gotta admit that people have a responsibility to keep themselves out of dangerous situations.

I agree.
-
I think most people with kids would lol. I don't think what I'm saying is that unreasonable. :P
-
Personal responsibility is something that frightens a lot of people. Without it, everything bad in our lives is out of our control. And not our fault. We get to be victims instead of idiots. That doesn't take anything away from how heinous and despicable the r@pe was. It shouldn't have happened and the guy should be locked away for -blam!-ing ever because of it. What he did was unforgivable. But you can't knowingly swim with sharks and expect full sympathy when you get bit.
-
Definitely, but I'm a merciless victim blamer with no empathy in my body. Hail satan.
-
I wouldn't be too concerned with that, man. This is the type of story that pulls on the heart strings and causes a lot of emotional reactions from people. It's hard for people to understand that you can say "hey, wait a minute.." when talking about the victim without also justifying the r@pe. Sometimes both people are wrong for different reasons.

Edited by Woupsea: 4/21/2016 10:36:01 PMMost of the people who I've known have been very firm believers in taking responsibility for your actions, a few people here have been eager to try twist that into me saying that rapists don't deserve to be punished. .-.

"I'm not going to blame the victim, but let me just blame the victim real quick"

Edited by Woupsea: 4/21/2016 7:50:04 PMYou're right, the victim's parents are probably at fault for their carelessness. Whatever we do let's not recognize that the girl made a terribly irresponsible and reckless decision that could have easily been avoided. It's not like she could have used her brain and not put herself into a situation that screams pedophilia in the first place or anything. We shouldn't expect teenage girls to exercise caution when drinking with strangers who they've known for less than a day, they're too helpless and stupid to know any better.
I'm being sarcastic, in case that wasn't obvious enough.
-
And the guy that actually committed the crime? He just gets a pass? Shouldn't that person be held responsible for what happened?
-
Edited by Woupsea: 4/21/2016 8:03:29 PMWhen did I say that he'd get away with it? When there's a traffic collision do you completely ignore one person's contribution to the accident? No, you don't always punish both sides but there's always recognition of the fault which they are at. Obviously not all sexual assault is as laughably negligent and easily avoidable as the case here, but the ones like this need to be made an example of. Teach girls to avoid risky situations, for their own good. Don't trip over your own social justice.
-
Ah. Now we're comparing heinous crimes to traffic accidents. Cool. Carry on, I won't question you any more.
-
We're comparing occurrences that are preventable in most circumstances and have more than one party at fault, I guess that's beyond your comprehension. :P
-
Yea, you keep blaming -blam!- victims. I won't try to stop you, it would be a waste of time.
-
Edited by Woupsea: 4/21/2016 8:53:25 PMLol. If this is what you consider victim blaming then you're only hurting the people who you think that you're defending. It's better for the victims to avoid high risk situations, ignoring that is just negligent and reckless. This isn't exclusive to sexual assault.
-
And I would argue that you are simply enabling/condoning rapists who rationalize what they do with the "she was asking for it" line. EVERYONE has a irrevocable right to, you know, not be -blam!-. Regardless of circumstances. Period. And since you want to compare this to traffic accidents. What if someone was driving home at 3 am and got t-boned and killed by a drunk driver? Would part of the blame be theirs for "putting themselves in a dangerous situation" by being on the road at that time? According to your logic, they would. And that's laughable man.
-
Edited by Woupsea: 4/21/2016 9:19:56 PMNot once have I said that it's acceptable in any way for somebody to sexually assault another person. You're enabling sexual assault by not recognizing when it can be avoided. I've addressed that. Obviously not all crimes can be avoided, but the ones that are preventable like this one should be. I guess you didn't bother to read that.
-
But you implied it. You can back pedal all you want. You implied it with your first comment, and you know it.
-
Edited by Woupsea: 4/21/2016 9:40:06 PMNope, from the start I've been saying that the girl is partially responsible for putting herself in a blatantly dangerous situation. For some reason you don't see a problem with this, if she showed even an ounce of caution then she would have never been molested. I'm not sure why you're opposed to that, but personally I believe that -blam!- is best to be avoided. There's no implications here, you're just delusional and drawing false inferences.
-
I'm opposed to you trying to shift the blame for a crime (one of the worst crimes a human can commit) from the criminal to the victim. I get it, you aren't going to be swayed. You think that women have a responsibility to not get -blam!-, and if they do, we'll then they should have just been a little smarter, right? If they had been smarter, it wouldn't have happened, right? It's actually their fault, right? Talk about delusional. -blam!-ing laughable, man. -blam!- that logic, that whole line of reasoning. It's one of the reasons why -blam!- occurs so often in our society. Because rapists and their enablers constantly regurgitate this shit to anyone who will listen.
-
You're the one enabling sexual assault here. If she acted the way that I'm suggesting then she wouldn't have been molested in the first place.
-
Ok, sure. Whatever you say man. Take care.
-
Edited by Woupsea: 4/21/2016 10:33:48 PMI feel bad for children who will depend on you to teach them caution and carefulness.
-
It's good you can admit you lost

The victim is your typical careless teenager but she didn't know she should raped and filmed.
