Title. My girlfriend is mad bc she finds it weird that my only childhood friend is a girl, and insists that a male and female cannot be friends without having sexual or deeper feelings then friendship. I'm just looking to see if there is truth to this or if anyone also believes it, bc I see no issue with a friend of the opposite sex
Ik this forum is toxic, but I'm looking for instant answers
Edit 1: We are all early 20s
Edit 2: I understand why my GF feels this way, based on her past experiences, but don't understand why it reflects on our relationship unprovoked
Edit 3: thanks for all the feedback! I'm sure this helps more then just me. I'm just trying to find out if it's as taboo as she is saying it is

Kill her

1 ReplyNo. What the -blam!-? Well, now you know your girlfriend is super insecure.

1. It's pretty normal. My best friends have been ALWAYS girls. 2. I will tell you something. If she begins telling you, "Don't talk with her." Or "It is me or she." Choose your friend. Jealousy isn't healthy for a relationship.

1 ReplyIf I've learned anything from Hollywood, you'll end up getting married to and furiously banging your childhood friend.
they also decided that making a movie about animal people was a good idea, so take that how you want
2 RepliesRelationships have a very good habit of often being much shorter than friendships. Never left a significant other dictate who you can be friends with.

Threesome is the answer my boy

My only friend is a gril. Its fine. There's no sexual attraction at all either.

Edited by wolfiefruit: 4/23/2016 3:57:39 AMI'm a guy and my best friend is a girl since we were 15 maybe 16 we are 20 now as well and there hasn't been a time were we had sexual feelings for each other so I'd say it's not weird to have best friends as the opposite sex Edit: we are like brother and sister to each other as well and nothing has changed that, people think we're twins with how we act

If you're in a long term relationship then your girlfriend should be your best friend. If it's still new than who gives a -blam!-

Edited by LiIUziHurt-: 4/24/2016 2:00:17 PMBy that philosophy gay people are screwed. They have to have deep feelings for everyone. Lol. But no, that's not true.

1 ReplyHell no. That's just retarded.

2 RepliesNot at all, that's how my 6 (almost 7now) year relationship started.

1 ReplyWell my first friend was female. We was like 3 and were close friends till 14.
when she changed school, we didn't met til then.
Many people says that is strange to have an opposite sex friend. But evidently they can't think anything but sex.

I think I've dated/crushed on every guy I every been friends with.

Only if you don't bang her
-
No its not, and you need to establish that you are not choosing her over your friends early on because of her insecurities.

1 ReplyHaving friends (just friends - real ones) of the opposite sex is fine. So is alittle jealousy from a significant other, but only in the most moderate of moderation. A strong bond doesn't identify by gender. It's natural to be protective of a relationship and see outsiders of the same sex as potential competition - after all, no one is going to pursue said relationship if the person has no appeal whatsoever...it's a recognition of value and pair bonding thing. It's horribly toxic to be jealous and want to isolate someone in your life from those around them. Think it over and discuss the matter alittle more with your missus. Maybe it's insecurity, maybe she is reading something that isn't (or maybe is) there...maybe she plans to make you into a wax statue to have forever and ever. Talk it through with her.

it really depends on the friendship. are you and your friend flirty towards each other?
-
Honestly I find it kinda relaxing because I have someone who actually understands when I vent to them about things about maybe girls I like, etc
-
You are likely friendzoning

3 Replies>says no >reads "kill the child------" >changes vote >reads the rest >changes back

There's been studies done that say if you have a best friend of the opposite gender, you will in due time develop some sort of feeling(s) for them that's above a friendship/best friendship level.
