Do I have to play all the Deus Ex games to understand the new ones?

Mankind Divided looks -blam!-ing awesome but I didn't play Human Revolution because I was afraid I'd be left in the dark for not playing the others but I'm just wondering if I really do need to play them all to understand. Confirm this for me, do I need to play all the other Deus Ex games to understand the new ones? Or are they all different like Final Fantasy?

  • The series timeline goes: Human Revolution -> Mankind Divided -> Deus Ex -> Invisible Wars Human Revolution and Mankind Divided are prequels that star a different main character than the other two. There are references to characters that appear and events that occur in the future games, but nothing game-ruining. Personally, i would recommend playing Human Revolution, as it is a great game and there is plenty of time before Mankind Divided releases. If you don't play it, you should probably read up on it's story to get an understanding of what is going on.
